In reply to: [Displet RETS / IDX Plugin] Beware! Do NOT buy.Had the company just had some integrity and kindly said, “We are sorry you didn’t like it,” and then refunded my money then I wouldn’t have felt as compelled to write this. However, with that said. This comment wasn’t NOT meant in retaliation, but is in fact actually what occurred. I was not lazy and didn’t want to watch the videos. It just is an inferior product as compared to what I have now. Period. What I have now is what I was hoping Displet was. Also, had they allowed me to test it fully without charge for even one week I would have realized instantly it wasn’t what I was looking for and this all could have been avoided. My suggestion is to allow people test the full functionality for 30 days, BEFORE collecting any money THEN they customers would be able to see if it is what they want. Thus legitimizing the quality of your product, professionalism of your company, and integrity of services. My current service allows simple, easy to use HTML, CSS, and even short code..It was also very easy to integrate the IDX into the framework of my template without having the IDX feed run on another server. According to your tech’s directly from a support request:
“Everything that begins with the subdomain search is not a part of WordPress – you won’t be able to manage these pages from WordPress nor control the slug of their URL.” I’m not sure how this is supposed to be us having 100 percent control over the HTML and the Java Script. Also according to the same tech:
“We can only include content from your site’s header and footer on your IDX pages (on the subdomain), unfortunately.”Again, how is this supposed to be giving us complete control of the data. In essence all of this listing code and how its fed is stored on their servers with the client having absolutely zero control over their feed, or how it displays. The widgets are a somewhat decent feature but far from enough to make this plugin worth the amount of money.
In response..
1.) I know VERY, very much about WordPress, and had been using it for over 4 years. it’s just their service/product is not well done.
2.) My business partner is a expert web Developer and web designer and he & I looked through the entire product, features (or lack thereof), and we came to the conclusion that this wasn’t the best or even 4th best IDX option for WP out there. I was perfectly willing to learn how the system worked but the system was flawed right from the very beginning, including external CDN feeds of all the property images which slowed the loading time of the site to a crawl.
3.) I used the service for 4 days, and was patiently asking for help, options, etc, but then realized it wasn’t good after I gave them multiple options to sway my feelings. Other pages that were not targeted to the “search.”domain were redirecting from their root domain values, which made those pages inaccessible. They offered an XML data feed where the feed values could be grabbed and put into our own widgets and that was supposedly “in the works” but was several months out.
At the end of the day, the contract reads that they will offer a refund if the client is unhappy and they have not. My advice is to stay away from this plugin. There are too many things that are just not right about this plugin and no signs that they have any desire to make it right with a customer who was clearly unhappy with their service and who did the right thing and ended the working relationship immediately and in accordance with their own Terms of Service, thus deserving of a refund according to those same terms.
