In reply to: Want XML Export to Pretty Print (word doc?)Thanks Tomontoast. It looks like this requires an office development environment. I asked a programmer friend to see if he can help me figure it out. Meanwhile, I think I put this feature in the wishlist forum, but don’t know if it would have actually made it on to the wishlist. Keep me in mind if anything else turns up.

In reply to: How read xml export into Word doc? Thanks Otto42. It seems like it ought to be doable somehow. I’ve googled around to see if I could find a third party app to do it but so far I haven’t found anything. Do you have any suggestions?

In reply to: How read xml export into Word doc? Thanks Samboli. I tried this and I get a bunch of xml codes. I want an actual document so I can edit all my blogs into a big Word Document. Am I misunderstanding something? Your fix sounds so easy I hope I can figure it out.

In reply to: Plugin Question: Extract all Posts to Editable Doc?Can anyone tell me what is the best forum to ask this question? I’m looking to turn the WordPress backup into a Word document.
Thanks

In reply to: Plugin Question: Extract all Posts to Editable Doc?Okay, so I understand the Export function provides an XML file. But I don’t know how to work with that file. I guess what I really need is a conversion utility to go from the XML output to a Word Doc file. (Or some other document type that will let me work on it as one long document outside of WordPress.)
Thanks

In reply to: New Podcast Plugin! (PodPress Replacement)Podpress worked great, so all I need is an updated work-alike. I think the simplicity of Podpress was a big plus. I’m not very knowledgeable about WP internals, so I just want to plug in and have it work. Podpress seemed to do that fine. I loved that I was able to automatically propagate my WP podcast into iTunes with no extra steps. That was awesome. So, in short I’m really glad you’re doing this. I’ve grown accustomed to the power of being able to post podcasts and am glad I’ll be able to continue.

In reply to: Whole site is suddenly blank!Oh, thanks musnake, Your tip is to clear the Browser’s cache. That probably doesn’t have anything to do with this because the site was blank in both IE and Firefox. I thought maybe there was a server cache or a WP blog cache. (I do use the cache plugin, but I disabled that when I renamed the name of the plugins folder.)
So far the only tip that I could try is to rename .htaccess – it would be interesting to get some confirmation from someone who had positive experience with this technique.
Thanks,

In reply to: Whole site is suddenly blank! This just happened to me this morning. It was very weird. (See my more detailed post about it on this forum.) After wasting an hour trying to troubleshoot, the problem simply disappeared. I wonder how to clear the cache. This sounds like a good idea if it happens again.
(I don’t think i’m supposed to put my url here, so I won’t). ?? Thanks everyone for all the great community support.

In reply to: RSS 2.0 feed is blank, but comments-rss2 works… Any Ideas? Thanks HandySolo. Could you tell me how to find the blog/feed address? I keep mousing around looking for how to find these feed URL’s and I can’t figure out where to look.

In reply to: RSS 2.0 feed is blank, but comments-rss2 works… Any Ideas?Good news, bad news. I see the problem with the RSS widget. That was my mistake. Now I realize that’s supposed to allow me to add OTHER RSS feeds to my blog, not my own. Doh! So forget that.
But the problem with the Addthis widget is troubling, because I think it used to work. (Maybe it never did.) I probably need a different Feed button (unless you can see something I’m doing wrong.)
Thanks,

In reply to: RSS 2.0 feed is blank, but comments-rss2 works… Any Ideas?Hi HandySolo,
Thanks so much for getting back to me! Yes, it’s the blog in my profile. (and the links are also pasted below). How strange that it works for you. I have two rss links on the page right now and neither of them is giving me a feed.
When I use the RSS widget in my sidebar, then look at the blog from a visitor’s point of view, it gives me this error message.
“An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later.”
This problem also occurs in addthis, so as near as I can tell no one is seeing my rss feed. Perhaps I’m typing in the wrong link (although it worked before.)
The two links I tried, are: (Please break them after you are through with them so I don’t get linked back here.)

https://www.foo.com/blog/wp-rss2.phpThanks again. I greatly appreciate knowing that you are taking the time to help me figure this out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In reply to: Bug in 2.3.1 (or at least buggy behavior)Thanks. I figured it out. It’s the google sitemap plugin. I found this on another thread. It turns out that when I disable the option to write a gz file in google sitemap, everything works. I suppose it’s a bug in the google sitemap plugin but not sure.
