The plugin is new, it did not exist on the other site.

wp-content/plugin is 755 as well…

I would check them all, if I could remember or find the list again, but so far, I did not discover anything out of the ordinary (which means very little, as I am not a pro-WP-admin).

So, I want to segment the subscribers, so to speak

Also: when you log in, does it always go to the dashboard??

I am sorry, but not being a real coder, I have difficulty understanding that document. From what I can tell, it only speaks of the standard roles and what they can do. But what I want is to split up the visibility rights between several roles.

Some articles visible to everyone dropping by
Some visible only visible to logged in people
Some visible to only logged in people of group x
Others visible only to logged in people of group x and y
And yet others visible by people not logged in, and Group X
