Upon further reflection, you are self-hosted (www.remarpro.com) which means anything wordpress.com should not apply to you. The post above suggests that if Jetpack is installed, that is linked to wordpress.com and I think that is what is tripping you up.

I’d try connecting via FTP, go to the plugin folders (/wp-content/plugins/jetpack) and rename the jetpack folder (add an “X” or “disabled” for example)

Then try logging in again. I don’t know if that will work, but that is what I’d try.

If you don’t have Jetpack installed, you can also rename all the plugins and try logging in again. I’ve had to do that when I didn’t have a clue as to the problem plugin. Then I’d reactivate them one at a time to see which was the one causing the problem.

I think that as long as you know the path it will work.

But what i do is make the clean install using the same version of WP as the backup.

Install WP clone.

Make a backup of the new site.

Then I use filezilla to connect via ftp.

I upload my desired backup to be restored into the same folder as the new install back up.

Log into the dashboard.

Go to WP clone. Click the button that rescan or repopulate (Unsure of the exact wording).

Your desired back up will be added to the list.

Tell it to restore and you should be done.
