That’s okay folks, I’d marked it as resolved since we’ve resolved there’s no immediate, common knowledge fix for this phenomenon, and that’s good to know I’m not missing something obvious, thanks.

Thank you very much for your offer. I had tried to post a screenshot and noticed that HTML IMG code did not work (perhaps if I’d used the apostrophes, sorry) but thanks for offering to check out a link:

I thank you nine hundred thousand if you know or have access to a line of CSS that will change that white “highlighter bar” over the selected My Account menu option like Dashboard in this case.
I use Content Boxed page setting for Astra and Woo both (same results in Boxed).

(This white item seems a little more elusive than the extra, white content box existing on Shop and Products between the theme’s content box and site background.)

I was eventually able to change the highlighted text color by changing the color of all hovered-over text color on my site (even though we’re not really hovering here). That was an acceptable find.

That makes me wonder if I asked my theme author how to change dropdown menu background colors if that would be what this white bar is working off of, but it’s a guess.
And it seemed so strange, these workarounds for something I experienced in two consecutive themes simply not having white content box backgrounds…

Astra Pro’s Woo Commerce module has GUI methods of changing all text-based fonts and colors (except isolating that highlighted one).

I thank you for taking at least one last look and will sing a review praise if you happen to have a fix… otherwise I’ll just leave it white for now.

I wanted to make sure, Mirko, you realized My Account is a Woo Commerce page with nothing but Woo Commerce code, right?

    Thanks but:
It’s not the theme authors’ responsibility.
Anyone at all with a theme that is not white (and doesn’t have some lucky theme override) can come across “my issue” because Woo Commerce has written a piece of code that, instead of having a translucent selector over the current Woo My Account menu item selected, they took a shortcut and made it white.
So most people don’t notice it.
My existing headache is not the text color that, yes, is the theme.
My disappointment is that the “selector Bar or Highlighter” that white-themed people don’t even see camouflaged is white instead of invisible or transparent. Totally unnecessary, it’s not a unique issue.

Astra has already written one Woo-fixing piece of CSS for me even though it had nothing to do with their theme and exists nowhere outside of WooCommerce itself (see below)

WooCommerce does things independent of themes or normal WordPress and is clearly designed to where it only meshes okay with white background sites without Additional CSS.

For example — aside from the problematic highlighter color :

    — in Boxed or Content Boxed scenarios Woo wraps an additional, white container around items in Shop or single Products (between the natural WP Boxed container and the site background).
You can set the Astra/WP Container background color, yes
You can set the Woo Commerce to the same container settings yes.
But that only makes the inner container (like you’d have text in, in a post) color respond.. Woo places for reasons unknown a unique, additional container between the boxed content and the site background. Big problematic white wrapper.

People with white backgrounds have no idea it’s even there because it is camouflaged.
Finally I was given, by Astra (who is helping write code to fix Woo issues that exist nowhere else in WP) like:

/***Woo Extra Wrapper Box Background Color***/
    .ast-separate-container .ast-woocommerce-container {
    background-color: #1e2022de;
    }
/* End Woo Wrapper BG Color */

I just felt like this highlighter bar in Woo’s My Account is the same.
People with white backgrounds don’t even see a “highlighter bar” — I think it’s just a glitchy artifact normally hidden gracefully by people’s white background themes, but when you have a dark or colored container or background behind it, it becomes visible as this field of white around your selected My Account menu item.

    Thanks but:
I can understand that for the font color but not the highlighter bar’s color itself … I’ve never seen a selector bar like that outside of Woo Commerce My Account.

I did realize the highlighted link color was the same as hover link color (this set by me in Global) so the words are no longer invisible but still half the problem is that bar clashing starkly with all my colors:

Highlight selector bar color being white (bad for my look)–

Being highlighted is not a normal mode of anything I’m familiar with in WordPress aside from the My Account page in WooCommerce. There’s nothing like a setting for that. “Highlighting Bars” etc.

Normally there’s just… the font changes color if hovered etc., but Woo has a static bar that sits over the My Account menu item and stays there regardless of where your mouse is (you have to have a non-white container background or background to notice it otherwise it invisibly blends into a white background).

I’m surprised there is no CSS code I can find to change that highlighter bar color.

    Update:
I have noticed the white highlighted text setting is same as “hover” color setting so I can change that (praise the power that be) but —
I’d still love to change that stark white highlight bar…
is its color the same as Woo warning and message bars background color if I found CSS for that?

thank so much… I’ll assume I don’t have to put it in, myself. If I did I’ll assume it’s spaces or tabs and that they’ll get ignored by the system.
    Thanks again!

Yui thank you so very much both for the information and sanity check.
I’m now at a much better point of departure to proceed.
    Again, many thanks.

My question above I think doesn’t really matter… I thinkl what its saying happened automatically. It’s beautiful, just using my own WordPress settings.

This seems like the very best plugin… I’m just going to have to ditch it ?? , though, in fear of it not staying up to date with WordPress. That’s my only fear, and then probably losing all my google-remembered product pages with switching to another plugin…
I guess I’ll go with WP EasyCart…which charges little transaction fees, apparently, until you pay $69.

I can’t understand why this plugin is in its death rattle, it really bums me out.
It just uses all your own page code. Perfect! Argh.

    thank you Corrina Russo

you’re right (twice) — I’ll try changing php versions to see if that at least allows me to log in again, (thank goodness I can do that without logging into WordPress, since I can’t, with most sites right now) otherwise I have to start trying to disable possibly responsible plugins without being logged in and I’m not feeling qualified for that. I have access to cpanel and FTP, but… I don’t know what will happen if I try deleting plugins without un-installing them (?) — when trying to fix the site enough to even log in wp-admin.

Thanks for recommending PHP versions because I didn’t know how serious running deprecated older versions was (can’t be worse than broken..) — that gives me more options than just 8 if that doesn’t work (but I’ll need to solve things eventually?)

sorry, yes, I meant to mention that fix — the same line of code you provided was suggested and when they did it, it helped with Ocean WP but not with twentyseventeen it seems.. at least not when I tried it at the end.
And in wp-contains/pluggables.php they put a couple “//” at the front of line containing
    header( “X-Redirect-By: $x_redirect_by” )
and I tried that too but for me it didn’t help either (again, it’s something they said they did to help with a couple of the Ocean WP sites)

They seem to have fixed one site by switching to alt-php 7.4

    thanks for your help
