Huh, I was sure I ticked everything off. Obviously I didn’t…! Thanks for the link – I shall go study it! ??
Hi Joe,
I’m having the very same issue with Auction Nudge as you posted way up top. I’m not a code geek, just someone who uses wordpress, and I can’t find a way to solve this. Would you have any words of wisdom?

In reply to: Elegant themes – Divi doesnt work on mobileI’ve been having the same problem, so tried turning off the Jetpack Mobile option. Didn’t think of that. However, it didn’t change anything for me… What did help was this: on my phone (android) at the top right drop-down list, I clicked the “request desktop site” option. The mobile version of the site loaded and displayed wonderfully then.
I just don’t know if visitors will be aware of that.

In reply to: Unable to do much of anythingHi ninianepress, thanks for the links! I will look at them. It’s an issue I’ve had since moving to GoDaddy, and when I posted the above, nothing would work until most of the plugins were disabled. I got SO fed up with the fact that just checking my site stats or uploading an image would take half an hour instead of five minutes… I got angry and asked a few people I know advice on a different hosting service. I went to BlueHost.
Several people had mentioned that perhaps GoDaddy was not the best hosting place for a WordPress site. I’ve no idea if the problem is truly routed in the hosting service or not, but I’ll tell you that it has been one week today and not one error has come up.
I exported my files out before moving, and everything went fine except for the image files. Not one of them stayed with the coding – every single one had to be uploaded again and reorganized… (I have A LOT of images). Took 3 days! lol….
But it would appear that all is good. So far, anyway. Ont one glitch, not one 500 error message, and not only that, now I can “preview” things again like plugins and the like which didn’t work at all before.
I REALLY hope it stays like this… I love using WordPress so very much.

In reply to: Site Died After Jetpack UpdateI’d really like to be able to run Jetpack, and have my site running proper-like again…

In reply to: Unable to do much of anythingI,ve moved the whole Jetpack folder to my “disabled plugins” folder, and now I can access the site, but not without still getting every other page marked 500 internal error.

In reply to: 500 Internal Sever Error?? No problem, I really am trying to learn… ??
Sigh… so I should change host yet again? Well, that solution has been mentioned before…

In reply to: 500 Internal Sever ErrorUhhhhh…. say what? ?? I’m just a pedestrian…
I had a problem a few months ago which was wonderfully resolved through help here. I discovered, however, that my server doesn’t keep error logs for my account. I’m on GoDaddy, and I think it is Apache, but not sure. WordPress did not do an auto upgrade – it never does, even though I know it is supposed to. I don’t know what an HTACCESS is, my apologies…

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Jetpack Update 2.9.1Didn’t get a notification of a reply…
Thanks for everything! This has been my first experience using the support forums, and I think it works wonderfully.
Pretty Permalinks – will go look that up. I vaguely remember there is a page over on GoDaddy that I think is supposed to let you set that up, I thought I had set it up to load using both the http and the www version of the site, but maybe I only did that with my main site. I’ll go double-check.
One thing for sure, both sites update, preview, and run everything super-smoothly now. Thank you for everything! ??

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Jetpack Update 2.9.1Well, everything seems solid as a rock. Neither site is by any means finished, but the basics have been set up again and not one single hiccup or glitch has happened. A couple of themes won’t preview, but I have a feeling that is perhaps an issue within the theme itself or maybe a plugin thing…?
I put the links down below if anyone wants to check out the results.
That WordPress update seems to have cured everything. I’ve posted and no problems, previewed again and again and again, and no problems. I’m also quite happy with Elegant Themes.
I’m a happy WordPresser again! Thanks Richard! ??

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Jetpack Update 2.9.1Woohoo! I saw the updates this morning and applied them to both sites.
I previewed a bunch of themes and so far so good! Everything stayed in place! The big test will be on my main site and I’ll do that tomorrow, it’ll be a big job.
If I may, I’d like to wait just a teensy bit before marking this as resolved. I swear, if everything goes fine for my other site, WordPress will have become completely indestructible. lol….

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Jetpack Update 2.9.1Yes, it will reproduce every time, consistently. If I preview a theme, every single widget that I have added will disappear, and only the original widgets that came with the theme will remain.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Jetpack Update 2.9.1Hmmm… Interesting. I got two notifications of a WordPress update when it rolled up to 3.9, which surprised me because I faithfully update whenever prompted to. The disappearing widgets began happening around that time. A week or so later (I don’t remember exactly how many days) there was another WP update for 3.9 which I also followed through on. Maybe that is a source of the issues I’ve got now?
Everything started with the Jetpack update… once that updated again, it seemed to be solved, and then the magical widgets thing began.
So far, on my scififangirl.rabidhorse.com site, I haven’t had one single white screen of doom appear since applying the Elegant Theme thing. The only problem, so far, are the disappearing widgets.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Jetpack Update 2.9.1Will do. Will have an update as well. I’m still having the widgets disappear EVERY time I preview a theme, and occasionally when I post, but the other problems seem to have disappeared.
I’m trying ElegantThemes to see if that changes anything. I’m using my scififangirl.rabidhorse.com as a testing ground for it. There is a bit of a learning curve with ET, which is fine but takes a bit of time for me, but if all works well I’ll try it on my main site. I must say that so far it seems more stable that before, except for the disappearing widgets.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Jetpack Update 2.9.1All my widgets disappear now every time I make a post. It is very frustrating…! ?? I count on my website.
Would a purchased theme be more stable?
