No. It’s not coming from My Calendar. Not sure why it seemed to change but I think I got it sorted out as best as possible. It’s about the browser. Thanks for checking in.

    Resolved.

I went ahead and loaded the large images and then implemented a number of break points. Everything is working great.

For the record, you can test on a desktop browser. As long as you are mindful of the browser image cache. I was able to use a few different computers with different sized browsers, and a few mobile devices, to create images at all of the breakpoints.

    Cheers.

Also noticed that the plugin creates a redirect from http to https. Wondering if that is necessary?

Thanks so much Nevma, for making that video. Most thoughtful. I was able to recreate and see that the plugin is working. So appreciate you taking all the time. I will mark this as resolved.

And I saw your email. When I get home later, I’ll send you that download link.

    Cheers.

Interesting. I tried looking at it in chrome developer. But honestly, I can’t really tell if it is giving me the image that was served or the image size that the browser creates. My images already resize to browser width=100%. But google developer did not site the image url from the 1024 folder. It cited the full size image url with different dimensions.

I know gtmetrix is just a general set of readings and maybe its not entirely accurate. Does it need to be under 1024? Because I believe they are testing at exactly screensize 1024, and if it needs to be under then that would explain it.

But I gotta say, I’m just about done with trying to increase my pagespeed scores. Google gives you more points for things that gtmetrix and pingdom takes points off for and vice versa. Crazy.

I’m still not convinced that the header images are being scaled. Are they not just being resized in the browser? I can’t tell anymore.

I’d still love to see gtmetrix show the images were scaled (just for my peace of mind.) But the scores are fine and perhaps I’m just obsessing.

    ??

If you send me an email address to [email protected], I’ll be happy to hook you up with those yoga video downloads.

I do see that more images were created at the 640 break. Is that because you surfed around?

But there are still only 5 headers in the 1024 folder. There should be 7.

But the gmetrix test is run at a 1024 screen size. So the headers should get resized but they are not. They are still being sized in html from from 1500×550 to 1024×375. See here:

    https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.abhyasayogacenter.com/9H9eE9bD

    (Look under “Serve scaled images)

As I understand it, the plugin should serve the 1024 image at that screensize. Shouldn’t it? And the too smaller images that are in the 640 folder did not get used either.

That is the main thing I am trying to do. WordPress does not handle header images nicely like Squarespace. I have to load in a 1500×550 image to meet the average width of a browser (Anything beyond that and you get white space which is lame but what are you going to do? Making it 2500 slows things down too much. Squarespace does all the resizing automatically.)

I just want to serve up those big header images more efficiently, more responsively. I’m not seeing this plugin doing that yet.

Cool. I am on dad duty and stealing time at the computer when I can. But I am around for a time. Let me know if you find anything or if I can be of any help in troubleshooting. Cheers.

Thanks for getting back. I did turn the plugin off because I was trying to some other methods. I have it back on now if you want to take another check. I know its running because that second inline block shoes up in the test (drops my score by 1%.)

And the missing images I was referring to are not the too smaller images on the homepage. In the “1024” folder there are currently 5 of my header images. But the site has 7 headers. I am missing both “training-header.jpg” and “teachers-header.jpg” they should be in there too.

And there are smaller versions of those other two images at the 640 breakpoint that did not get served either.

The resized images are not replacing the full sized. I will leave it active for now/ if you can take a look, I’d be much obliged.

OK. Last night, I noticed a setting in my cache plugin that I changed and I think may have made the difference. I did also just include the exclusion that Frank recommended (just in case.)

However, while there are some resized photos now in the AI cache file, I only see 4 out of the 7 headers images there. How do they get added, shouldn’t they all be there? And. more importantly, they are not being served as expected. All three images below have smaller versions in the cache file but did not get used when the page was rendered.

    From GTmetrix:

    Recommendation Grade Type Priority
Serve scaled images D (67) Images High

The following images are resized in HTML or CSS. Serving scaled images could save 95.0KiB (42% reduction).

https://www.abhyasayogacenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/home-header.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 1500×550 to 1024×375. Serving a scaled image could save 75.6KiB (53% reduction).
https://www.abhyasayogacenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/training-small.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 710×284 to 626×250. Serving a scaled image could save 10.3KiB (23% reduction).
https://www.abhyasayogacenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/jbyvideo.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 710×284 to 626×250. Serving a scaled image could save 9.2KiB (23% reduction).

    What next?

Also, if I change the gate numbers will new resized images get created? And I noticed that the plugin adds an additional inline text box that is landing after an external css file, wondering if there is a way to move it (might be on me, I think the google font link I added is maybe part of the issue) Appreciate your help.

Forgive me. Can you be more specific. I have worked with wordpress for a long time but I have never heard anything about enabling cookies for a site (isn’t that usually a browser setting?) I am comfortable with code if its needed but I don’t know what we are talking about.

Glad you like the site. Tell you what, if you help me get this going and find a way to serve up scaled images then I’ll send you some free downloads of the home practice video I made:

    Hey Gertjan-

Just want to clarify that you have upgraded to WP 4.1 and CVG is working (without the quotes for gallery ID of course)?

The “gallery not found” issue came up with the last WP update and another user was able to find the remove quote solution (Praveen, plugin developer is awol.)

Anyways, I have been hesitating to upgrade for fear of a worse break. It would be good to know that is working OK with 4.1

Thanks in advance for the field test.
    Cheers.

You have to remove the quotes from the shortcode. See the thread here:
