In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Sharing icons missingJeremy, first of all, I love your title “Happiness Engineer.” Just awesome.
Secondly, thanks for your willingness to help. After checking it out, I originally just had “Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results” and “Posts” checked.
I checked “Pages” and the icons indeed showed up on this page as expected: https://escapeadulthood.com/blog/posts
However, they also got added to the top of that page, right under the headline, which is something I DON’T want. Then I remembered that you could turn off the sharing buttons on a page by page basis, so I did that and it fixed the problem.
It’s just weird that the actual buttons themselves show up when I have “Pages” unchecked, but I have to check it to get the logo icons to show. So ultimately, I guess we’re good, unless you think this is some sort of bug and/or is something I need to address further?
Thanks again for your help!
Excellent! Thanks so much for the super quick reply!!
Cheers!
I’d also like to show the avatar on a page of the person logged in, rather than the actual author. Will the php code above do that? If so, how specifically do I implement that into a page?
Thanks!
See if you have the Digg Digg plugin activated anywhere on your site. If so, deactivate it. Unfortunately, that’s all I can help with, because that was the offending plugin for me.
Huzzah! I think I got it. Did a search on my computer for any files that had “w.sharethis.com” in it and came across a file “dd-helper.php” that’s actually a part of the DiggDigg plugin.
I do not have that plugin installed on the site in question, but it was activated in my multi-site network. I network deactivated DiggDigg and all appears to be well.
Weird.
Thanks for all your help!

Damn. I’m using Genesis with fabric8ted as my theme…and I don’t see that line of code ANYWHERE in those files.
I have the Theme Test Drive plugin enabled, and I did a test while running the Twenty Thirteen theme, and i still got the ShareThis code at the end of my copy and pasted text, which seems to indicate that it doesn’t have anything to do with the theme I’m using. It must be somewhere else…but where?
(Pulling hair out now ??
Yep, but unless I’m missing something, it’s not telling me where to delete the code in WordPress. (I don’t recall ever manually entering the custom buttons, so I don’t know where this bit of code is coming from to be able to remove it.)
Looks like it’s on every page of my site…just don’t know where it’s coming from…
So I can view the source code of my site and I DO see this line of script:
<script type=’text/javascript’ src=’https://w.sharethis.com/button/buttons.js?ver=3.7.1′></script>
However, I have NO idea where that’s coming from. I don’t know where to look in my WordPress environment to find where that line is being sent from…
Any thoughts?
Jason
If you go to my site: https://escapeadulthood.com/blog/
and select a chunk of text, and then paste it somewhere, a URL is appended to the end of the text block, like this:
Welcome! We shake you warmly by the hand and invite you to take off your shoes, pull up a bean bag chair and stay awhile. This is a place where you can escape the vile clutches of Adultitis, be inspired to break rules that don’t exist, and let your inner child run free. – See more at: https://escapeadulthood.com/blog/#sthash.Qub1sBgQ.dpuf
Thanks in advance for any insight you might have on this!

In reply to: Problems with theme in FirefoxI see that you guys are seeing what my problem is. I appreciate the links you all provided. Unfortunately, I’m not an expert at coding, so most of it is greek to me. (I know just enough to make me feel like I know what I’m doing until something like this comes around) I have done some searching, and my design is based on the Benevolence theme:
https://www.thoughtmechanics.com/blog/2005/01/03/benevolence/
It appears that others are having similar problems, but no solution has been found. Not sure what to do now, expect maybe try and tinker with a whole new theme…
