I just thought to look up appnitro, which I learned generates and hosts the form. They also provide the option of adding content to the top/header of forms via their account options. So. the form was hosted and located on machform/appnitro’s website. (see: edit form)

So… it all came down to sloppy troubleshooting on my end, as I started on step 3 rather than step 1—properly exploring content surrounding the script. ? I’m too used to widgets, etc…. but Sheldon Cooper would be horrified.

I’ve looked at it but nothing seems to refer to the banner, only to the larger form below the banner. But, then again, it’s less familiar to me than mandarin chinese…

In the source code, the banner is within the div .form_description, which doesn’t appear anywhere within the machform.php file.

I haven’t yet found any solutions, but thanks tons for your help in troubleshooting this

I’m not sure. there’s an “includes” folder which contains various php files… including script.php and ajax.php. I don’t understand these…

yes. there is a folder and it contains css, docs, js, images, languages folders.

in Widgets> Sidebar, I only see “PHP Code” which seems to refer to something on the front page or theme(twitter/facebook buttons”

I’m terribly confused as to how to find and remove a flash banner(can’t find any plugin associated with it), for instance, and hope that installing wordpress will help…. Then again, I have no idea what a wordpress installation actually is/(its advantages).

Yes, it is on a live server(I’m taking over the site).

I mentioned having downloaded site content b/c it sounded like a logical part of taking over a wordpress site. I’d like to make changes to the live site, including changes that cannot be made in wordpress(i.e., changes in appearance editor) w/o(?) installing wordpress on my computer.

B/c I haven’t installed wordpress yet, I don’t have permissions to make certain changes(changing files and re-uploading won’t allow me to edit javascript or remove flash banners, for example.)

New database when installing?

Following up on the original query regarding taking over a wordpress site(wordpress-created).. How do I do so? I’ve read that I should download Wordrpess locally, but instructions end there.

I’m familiar with downloading a site’s files and have already done so using filezilla. So:
Should I make this downloaded content my root folder, then do the “5-minute install”? Or should I specify a new database, do the 5-minute install and then copy the downloaded site contents over??
