  • well, have you set the permission of that directory to 777?

hmm…i don’t really get your problem, because the only thing you can do to treansfer your files to the ‘.org’ version of wordpress is export and import, which also means the only thing transferred are the posts and pages.

To start from scratch is easy, you just go to cpanel from lunar pages and get into Fantastico, install wordpress from there (which is a shortcut to upload this and that and creating databases, it’ll do it all for you!). as soon as you’re done, import the xml file you exported from ‘.com’, do whatever you want with anything (yes, this is the freedom of ‘.org’ :)) and you’re done!

    no no, not login.php..

    it’s yourdirectory/wp-admin

that’s all! ?? don’t you have a meta tag on your side bar? you cna login from there, because i’m sure the default theme has it.

after thinking about it, i figured out that perhaps it should be a problem of admin.php, but what do i do with it? i didn’t change anything in it anyway.

advice, i need advice and help.

I don’t think it’s possible unless you can somehow work out a HTML code that works that way.

Anyway, lets just see what the other people say about this problem. ??

You mentioned you removed those things, how? By the theme editor or the widget panel?

It’s be much easier if you’re using a widget-ready theme. You can just go to Presentation>Widget. Add as many text widget as you want. Depends on how you want to organise it you can just add a simple HTML code in it. For example <img src=”your url”> for adding in a picture. Just that easy!

PS: It works the same with gif or any other image files (unless it’s flash).

What I mean is I want to update the page and I don’t want to go deleting evreything. I want it to still be there but in another ‘post’, and each time I update I want it to be in a new ‘post’.

well, you can always try IE7…. ??

coz WordPress sites look better in IE for me, especially the admin panel. lol.

I do know the meaning of sub domain, i meant thetales.vlexo.com. okay okay, sorry to get you so fired up. really sorry..

Anyways, thanks very much as the database changes really soved my problems.

    Thanks very much.

yar, i have the same problem. But it isn’t a very big problem. You can just send those default passwords you set manually to them. It doesn’t take up too much of your time.

    Sorry.

As I said the directory is home/public_html/www/blog/
    therefore, the domain was https://thetales.vlexo.net/blog/

It’s not a subdomain, it’s a sub-folder. The host changed it’s subdomain from .com to .net. That’s was what i was trying to tell you about the sub domain.

Carrying on, the files weren’t moved at all, still same as before.

Well, I went into the DB, I changed the values in site url and the problem’s still there. By the way, I can’t find ‘home’, where is it in specific?

    Thannks.

okay, then i guess what i thought cannot be done.

you see, i have this blog quite well developed with many posts, categories and stuff like this and my host went for a network transfer and when I came back, everything was alright (as in the database, files and stuff) just that I can’t seem to load the site anymore. What came out was 404 error.
the things are there, but yet 404 error. I don’t get it.

Oh yea, and the admin told me that it could be because of the sub-domain change that caused this problem.

Now I am desperately looking for a way to solve this problem.

    Thanks.

Okay, I think I figured out the problem.

I have just one last question, If all my files are there, all the comments themes, databases, posts, category, so on and so forth, if I do the installation (as in go to wp-admin/install.php), will all my data be lost?

I’m still stuck with this problem…

I don’t think it’s possible coz both wordpress you installed is in a different database i assume. The only thing you can do is to do it again at the second one.
