Thanks, Pippin! I’m super happy about the new submission requirements too ??

Hello! This plugin implements the functionality almost exactly as it is in WordPress 3.5 now (the plugin ceases to work with WordPress 3.5).

Unfortunately, now that the feature is in WordPress itself, I won’t be continuing to develop it further. It’s here now for people with earlier versions of WordPress who might want the Favourites feature.

Envato run marketplaces such as ThemeForest.net (you can sell WordPress themes there) or CodeCanyon.net (you can sell WordPress plugins there).

    Hi Croussou,

These questions should really be directed to Envato Support https://support.envato.com/

They’ll be able to help you and give you an accurate answer.

    Cheers,
    Japh

    Hi Kenny,

For support with a ThemeForest theme, it’s always best to contact the actual author of that theme. ThemeForest support help with issues on the marketplace itself, but not individual themes.

You can contact the author from the contact form on the author’s ThemeForest profile page. In the case of the Elegantica theme, the author’s profile page is here: https://themeforest.net/user/gljivec

    Good luck! ??

    Hi Displetdev,

I’ve just checked the size of the Arctica theme’s ZIP file, and it’s only 2.5MB, which doesn’t seem overly excessive to me. That also includes a bundled plugin.

I assume you’re referring to the entire downloaded ZIP file from the marketplace, which also contains any documentation, PSD files, etc. which aren’t part of the theme itself.

Precisely ?? I’ll log these issues now and draw them to the attention of the review team, who will confirm the issue, and if confirmed will suspend sales and contact the author to resolve the issue.

    Perhaps I wasn’t clear:
    * Currently we review all themes that are submitted

    Shortly:
    * We’re making some modifications to the requirements for the current review
    * We’ll be beginning a re-review of existing themes

    In the meantime:
    * If a user comes across an older theme that doesn’t meet our requirements, as they have always been able to, they can report it and we will address it

That isn’t “zero quality control”. In fact, it’s as much quality control as is on www.remarpro.com’s theme directory (though I don’t believe there’s a re-review process there yet either).

Until the final requirements are signed off, announced, and we begin our re-review project, we’re relying on user feedback.

However, our current requirements are good, the issue is predominantly older themes.

Historically we haven’t made our guidelines particularly public, however, we’re aiming to release a list of submission requirements in the not-too-distant future.

If they’re not met, the theme is sent back to the author to rectify the issues. If an existing theme is found to not adhere to the requirements, the author is contacted to rectify the issue. So if a site owner identifies an issue with a theme not meeting the requirements, they should contact Envato support, who will determine the best course of action from there.

We’ll continue to improve the requirements as time goes on too. Size is an interesting one, and something we need to think more on.

    Hi Displetdev,

We’re well aware of this bad practice, and it is actually a big motivator behind our push for better review standards. We also have plans to re-review our entire theme catalogue to stamp this out entirely.

In the meantime, I’m now actively pursuing any reported themes that utilise this practice to help ease the pain it causes developers like yourself.

If you have specific examples, please contact me so I can help get them resolved, which means you don’t need to contend with it, and we all end up with happy customers ??

    Hi Displetdev,

Sorry to hear you’ve had trouble with themes on ThemeForest. We certainly have more than “zero quality control”, in fact our review process is improving all the time. Unfortunately, some older themes may not meet our current standards (and we’re working on this too).

If you’ve had issue with specific themes, I’d be more than happy to assist with getting them resolved from the theme side where possible.

    Hey Sean,

You need to upload the theme ZIP file itself. The ZIP file you uploaded is the entire package you get from ThemeForest which also contains any documentation, PSDs, etc. that the author included.

You can get more help with this particular problem in the Envato knowledgebase in this article: https://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/269/0/my-wordpress-theme-isnt-working-what-should-i-do

    Hope that helps! ??

Hi John, you’ll be pleased to know that this has now been implemented in version 2.0 of WP Butler! ??

    Hi Gonix,

What Martin says is correct, except the current version of the Wisdom of Life theme does not have this issue. So either you need to update the theme, or it’s actually a plugin that’s causing the issue, not the theme after all.

    Good luck!
