In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Sidebar drops underneath page contentI’m also having this problem.
As with dpl, above, it only affects individual posts, not if viewed in the Home page.

In reply to: Changing a colour in Twenty Eleven theme / using child themeAha! I’ve done it. I just replaced the black with a pale orange. So it shows as a slight gradient in Firefox and a solid yellow in IE and Opera.
Thanks so much for pointing that out to me. I would have realised eventually, since I can’t upload images in IE so always use Firefox for updating, but I wouldn’t have wanted anyone to see it like that!!!
Thanks again.

In reply to: Changing a colour in Twenty Eleven theme / using child themeOh my word! Yes, you’re right!
I was looking at it in Internet Explorer, and there is no gradient at all, just solid yellow, which is what I wanted.
Just looked at it in Firefox and see what you mean.
So to get rid of the gradient and just have the solid colour, what do I need to do to that code?Forum: Themes and Templates

In reply to: Changing a colour in Twenty Eleven theme / using child themeHi graphicsmart – sorry, I didn’t see your reply when I posted my last one.
No, it’s not the links throughout the blog I’m focusing on here. They’re a dark red and I’m happy with that.
With Ayman’s help I’ve changed the solid black bar immediately under the header image from black to yellow. – the bar that houses the links to the pages.
I now need to change the text colour of these links (to About Me, Contact Me, etc) to black. And I also need to change the colour of the search box from grey to white, leaving the text in that box black.
Can you help…?
Thank you!PS – I think the child theme is installed correctly.

In reply to: Changing a colour in Twenty Eleven theme / using child themeThank you Ayman! Success!
Except that now I need to make two other changes on the link bar, to complete the look.
Firstly, I need to change the link text (to the pages) to black. Where would I find the code for that?
And second, I need to change the colour of the search box from grey to white, leaving the text black. I know the colours I need are ffffff and 000000, but I don’t know the code.
Please could you help?
Thank you so much, I’m very grateful.

In reply to: Changing a colour in Twenty Eleven theme / using child themeThanks for your help Ayman.
I just pasted all that code into the editor, but it hasn’t made any difference. The link bar is still black.
I pasted it right at the bottom of the child theme. Should I paste it at a specific point?

In reply to: Getting the sidebar on every page / post?Thank you WPyogi and alchymyth. Aplologies for the delay in responding but I have been working on your suggestions.
I have for the time being opted for the plugin and this has given me the sidebar I want. But I would gradually like to learn about CSS. I’ve now created a child theme as per your advice and it’s saved on my host server but it seems to be only 4KB…? Does that sound right?
If I wanted to use code to customise the theme, would I add the code to this child theme rather than to the stylesheet under appearance: edit on my blog dashboard? And somehow the child theme would override this…?
Thank you – again!
