Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Please prioritize images in social media sharesBut Gutenberg is how WordPress works now, it’s got a lot of other intelligent things that acknowledge the direction that content creation and strategy have gone and (are going to go further). No one READS content UNLESS they’ve had a link or a share in a relevant place in order to get to it. The presentation of the social media share is now an INHERENT part of writing an article, just like SEO is non-optional if you want to be discovered by search keywords.
Jetpack is also developed by Automattic and it has a free plan (mine is paid for one blog, but not the other) that has a lot of value-add, but I strongly believe that preparing the presentation of the images within the blog post is and should be a core function of all versions of WordPress, and definitely prepared and/or social-share compliant for the Twenty-XX themes that come with WordPress. The template I use on the above issue is Twenty Seventeen.

In reply to: [MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress] Dramatic increase in spam signupsHi there,
I took a look at the above code, but I don’t know how to use it, unless it’s to put it into a javascript header or footer.
I noticed two things: when I published a new post to Mediaum that had the MC4WP form in it, the text of the form came through with the words (paraphrase) “humans should not fill this form and expect good things,” which means that even though I haven’t seen any documentation or someone else saying so, the MC4WP form does contain the honeypot that MC puts in its forms.
The second is I checked my signup logs and there was a spammer that has been signing a lot of forms and MC was preventing them from signing up. Eventually, though, it made it through.

In reply to: [MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress] Dramatic increase in spam signupsBump – I know it’s American Thanksgiving but I don’t know if you’re American.
I have a low tolerance for frustration, and this is something I can’t solve by myself. I need help and because my Mailchimp isn’t a paid-for account (two lists with ≤200 members), I cannot get help from them. I am about to turn off the list notifications entirely because seeing yet another email talking about subscriptions that I know are spammers is really getting me down.
I don’t know why I can’t black-list email addresses at Mailchimp, and I don’t know why these people have made a cottage industry out of harassing list owners with bot signups. I’m sure there’s stuff I don’t know how to do here, and I’m sure there’s also a way to stop them from signing up, even if it hasn’t been written yet.
I DO NOT want a recaptcha, but if I have to put one on, then I want to be confident I can take the double-opt-in off (make things complicated for people to sign up and they won’t)

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Simple styling of WooCommerce order information boxesThank you so much for all your help! I’m going to make the changes ASAP.
K I’ll have to contact my host, because host and domain registrar are the same company :-/
I want tacticalchronograph.com to go to “The url that you need help with”
I’ve already done it at CPanel – redirect
Domain Directory Redirect Url Type Match www. Wildcard Actions lifesbattleplan.com / https://projectica.org/portfolio/lbp/ permanent Delete tacticalchronograph.com / https://projectica.org/portfolio/tactical-chronograph/ permanent Delete
cPanel says:
“A redirect allows you to make one domain redirect to another domain, either for a website or a specific web page. For example, create a redirect so that https://www.example.com automatically redirects users to https://www.example.net. For more information, read the documentation.”I chose “Redirect with or without https://www.”
It seemed so obviously simple, but it’s been over a week, and it doesn’t work. Wondered if this was JetPack related.
And here I thought they were a magic social-proof number that just upticked in time so that people didn’t feel bad ??
Looks good! I can’t wait to look at it on a computer where I have the Developer menu on the browser.
Thank you!
Thank you again, Andrew! (BTW, are you in Ireland, or the Czech Republic? Stats on my Jetpack… though I know I have one mailing list subscriber from C.R.)
On the Codex link you gave me, was there any section I should focus on learning?
I’ll apply that code now…
Thank you, Andrew! I just applied your code in the Customizer and
The H1s on the home page are all the same together; this page was taken out of the home page but as a Page, still matches.

And this is a Post where the H1, like elsewhere, is different.

So far, all Menu links go to Pages, so that there’s a consistent (if anyone clicked all of them and looked) presentation from each of them.

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] Where is header img width defined?Just a quick q: are you using the Additional CSS in the Appearance Customizer to make your changes?
In your Web Inspector Console, concentrate on the CSS documents to find this element and parameter. In style.css you’ll find a section like so:
13.2 Front Page --------------------------------------------------------------*/ .twentyseventeen-front-page .site-content { padding: 0; } .twentyseventeen-panel { overflow: hidden; position: relative; } .panel-image { background-position: center center; background-repeat: no-repeat; -webkit-background-size: cover; background-size: cover; position: relative; }
I’d try changing the .panel-image parameters from within the Additional CSS customizer, which will show you a live preview before you Publish. If that doesn’t work, someone else can take a stab at it…
No I’m sorry but that doesn’t help me. I figure a form created on Mailchimp and then pasted into a website would be an “embed,” but what about a form created by MC4WP and then pasted into a post or a page? Is that still an embed, or is it an API?
But I’m having a problem with the form that MC4WP is generating anyway. I am customizing it for each post I want to use it on – the shortcode isn’t good enough – and it’s not responding to people entering the form and clicking the submit button.
I’ve added the above code to the forms my MC2WP generates; I was unable to custom create a Merge field with the full length of “GDPR_CONSENT” – so I’m assuming that this field is in the back end of MC.
I am going to run a reengagement campaign very soon for my entire list, and I’m going to ask them to update their list preferences and check the GDPR boxes.
But I share people’s frustrations that the customized form from MC offers very little customization of its own (that Euro star file-folder graphic blows up to the size of a screen when you’re on mobile, for example) and that it can’t be passed through any other kind of code than hosted on MC’s server, it seems.
Hi Stef, thanks for looking at this.
Since this is a landing page for a current campaign, I cannot afford to have anything not working, so I removed the gallery. Instead, I provided a link to where people could see more, and they they’d go to my Woo page, see that it has a price, and then they’d bounce rather than subscribe to get the free version.
At times, even the image doesn’t appear on Mac Safari. It’s rather distressing when this happens.
Good, thanks! I found it.
So…?if I Network Deactivate Hustle, I can reactivate it in the site that I am actually still using it in? I’m going to assume yes, and try that later tonight when I work on my other site.
