No, I haven’t deleted my old site and I exported a backup.

So thanks, that is what I will do I will import into the new – but into one subdomain of my multisite and leave it like that, still manually imported the different categories from there into the relevant subdomains…

( I wanted to break down the original one site into several multi-site sub domains – for example my category ‘food’ will go into its own site etc etc).

    Thanks

I moved it as a singlesite, then changed it into a multisite.

I checked the .htaccess and it seemed all OK.

But what I have done now, is simply done a fresh multisite install on my new domain and shall perhaps manually post over a period of time to the relevant sub-domain; unless there is a way to put the contents of my database ( posts ) from my old site into one of my (new) sub-domains within my (new) multisite?

    Thanks for replying.

Hi, thank you for replying. Yes, I read that and I still not sure what I have done wrong.

I also ‘dropped’ the wp-site and ‘wp.blogs’ from the database as recommended by someone somewhere..

I am thinking of moving it to yet another site as a singular install and starting again on the new site – manually uploading all of my old posts, but this will be a huge amount of work. Arghhh!

The original site was not a multi-site. At the moment I have now my main ( old) site redirecting to my new site and all the links etc seem to work. I really wanted to make my new site a multi-site however but cannot work out what I am doing wrong.
