In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Gallery z-indexI just started using NG Gallery and was having the same problem – and found this thread. When opening the gallery my menu drop down bar stayed OVER the slideshow:
https://www.futuregringo.com/index.php/2009/01/08/obligatory-drive-thru-joke-here/
I upped the z-index on all the Nextgen CSS elements, but it didn’t work. I made my z-index on the drop down -1, which made it completely dissappear. After more fiddling I finally made the drop down menus z-index -.5 which finally worked.
I’m not a CSS expert, but it worked. If someone wants to explain to me why I’ll be a wiser man.
I have to check in other browsers at home, but hope that might help – james…

In reply to: Google blog search stopped indexing meHi – I downloaded Google sitemap Friday and activated it. I got an error that it couldn’t write to the two files, so will need to make sure they’re writable.
BUT – I created a test post just now and it immediately showed up on Google blog search, as do my “missing” posts from the past week.
Although I have no idea why, (very tech savvy I know,) my posts are being immediately indexed to Google blog search as I originally wanted.
Thanks for the responses.

In reply to: Google blog search stopped indexing meHi Adam. With Google blog search they generally index it minutes after publishing a post. I believe it’s in WP and other blog designs that immediately send it after publishing.
Also I just verified my site with Google tools, and it shows a crawl on 12/12. So if I Google a recent post of “future gringo, diabetes” my recent post will show up – however doing the same on Google’s BLOG search (which updates minute by minute) should show this post but it does not.
Thanks.

In reply to: another sidebar questionHi – yes that does fix the one comment, but it I have a really long post title I still don’t have a way of truncating it
for example this test post
https://www.futuregringo.com/index.php/2000/07/07/test-of-a-really-long-post-title-to-check-the-sidebar-status/#comment-1024still shoves the comments down. So as long as I don’t post anything longer than about 15 characters I’m ok – but I’d love a way to abbreviate the title in that plug in

In reply to: background images for post titles???Thanks – I just started researching how to do this. Just tried the above code experimenting with an off colored rectangular block and it works perfectly.
Just need to create and adjust the graphic.

In reply to: Am I doing a Backup properly?Maerk – Thanks for the info on 7-ZIP. I’ve exported all my files, extracted in 7-zip, checked in Word and it contained all of my content.
That verification is exactly what I was looking for – I appreciate the help.

I am following the Codex guide to the letter, but just want to make sure the final output is correct, as I plan on doing it weekly.

In reply to: Am I doing a Backup properly?OK – on my main phpMyadmin page I have an Export option. I selected jameswp, (my WP DB), checked “add DROP DATABASE”, and ” add DROP TABLE”.
I exported, saved and have a 27kb GZ file titled:
mysql1[1].gearhost.com.sqlIs that complete? I’ll check out 7-zip at home and check out the files to learn more.
