In reply to: Synchronize comment data.Got it. Did it. Thanks!
Turns out that it is a handy little feature of wpDiscuz that is seldom needed, and safe to run even if you are not sure you need it. The catch is that to run it you need to click on Synchronize Commenters Data on the Dashboard and the scroll way down on the next page that appears, then look again for Synchronize Commenters Data and then click on that to actually make it run. It ran quick and that was that.

In reply to: Get text out of an old xml file.Using Notepad to search on some key words. Already found some other stories and poems that she wrote but not the main one she is looking for. The keyword database between her ears has not produced a successful search-term for that yet. Next step might be to set up a web site as you mentioned.

There is another Disqus user with a related problem. His post is here:

In reply to: Comment counts not updating. Here is a revised description of the problem with some info added:
On our WordPress site (www.marliesplace.com) hosted by Bluehost, we use the Disqus plugin for comments on our pages.
Usually the comment counts are equal or about the same between what Disqus reports and WordPress displays on the Dashboard, but for the last few weeks they have been way different. This trouble started right after the big DDOS event of a few weeks ago.
In Disqus the comment counts are going up steadily as they should as people continue to make comments.
But when we go to “All Comments” or look on the Dashboard in WordPress, the total for page comments has been frozen on the same number for weeks.
It seems like there is some sort of breakdown between the Disqus plugin and the WordPress Dashboard.
If we look on the Dashboard, and do a reply to a comment there, the comment gets counted by the Dashboard, but comments or replies that are done via the Disqus comment function on our page(s) do not show up in the totals on the Dashboard.
Any idea what might be causing this?
I did some searching and came up with this one idea. I did what it says, but it did not help:

We have also deactivated and removed the NS Widget Recent Comments plugin.
The problem with the comment count not updating on the Dashboard persists.
