In reply to: Step 5; install yields a blank page.Talk about inconspicuous post… Didn’t see it…
No, all is not well; My hosting provider has been involved for days because I couldn’t seem to get passed the wp-admin only showing info about the new version, whilst in the lower right corner proclaimed Version 3.1.
I thought that if I can only tell WP that we have actually installed the new version, I would get into my real dashboard and do some work, but even after it now acknowledges the new install (V 4.6.1), I still get an empty dashboard….
Am I going mad??

In reply to: Step 5; install yields a blank page.Ok, I got help from Webhosting UK. It turns out that I didn’t need anything installed on my local computer at all(!)
This is the main reason for my confusion; I have read and asked questions, and all I get is that I have to install database and WordPress onto my own computer…
It is now my understanding that all is done via the hosting firm; creating, administrating and updating the website is all done via internet.
If this is correct, I really think the wordpress documentation should be updated to that effect.

In reply to: Step 5; install yields a blank page.…to wee if all is done properly… That must’ve brought a LOL on!! I’ll make sure I do then, when all is properly done, so that’s another incitement…!

In reply to: Step 5; install yields a blank page.Right, I may have come a step further; visited the cpanel provided and went to apps installer and chose WordPress. Than answered a few questions as best I could, and hit install. Got confirmation that the install was successful.
I then tried to get in to my website again, but again got a sodded WSOD. I think I may be getting lost in the database details… I don’t see the hierarchy in my mind; it seems like my parameters are overpowering each other. What is the logic chain of events??Kind regards,

In reply to: Old website importThat is when I get the Fatal error message:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1966080 bytes) in /home/telesoft/public_html/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 5410
Happens every time! I read about expanding the memory size in the php.ini file, but don’t have access to this one. Don’t really understand how to “break my exported XML file into several smaller pieces and run the import script one at a time”.
Why is this happening? Should I talk to Webhosting UK where our stuff resides?

In reply to: Completely Lost, where do I start?Hi, I am sort of in the same place as lushavocado was, but I’m still in there… It has been years since I have updated our website but need to do it now. I have come as far as to log-in to the wp-admin, but when I go to Dashboard, I get an error message;
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1966080 bytes) in /home/telesoft/public_html/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 5410
Please advise…
Kind regards,
