In reply to: How Do I Add a Blog and Calendar to Existing Website? Please give me some options. If you expect me to speak your language when i really don’t know it, then I’m not going to be able to do it on my own.
I thought i was plain an simple. I would LIKE to do a CMS (maybe in the long run) and if i can be directed in that direction that would be great. But really i would like to learn how to add a blog to the pages i required. I know how to use the Admin pages to set up Categories but I don’t know how to put the POSTS on the webpage. I would also like the calendar feature.
I want to know how to do some of this so i can continue to expand on my knowledge. I don’t want someone else to do it for me. I just need some direction on what to do when.
I don’t want to recreate or destroy the current look of my website. If i can’t just add posts to the current webpages, then i need to develop a theme based on my current website. (I was told however taht i could develop my site and then add WP to it. I was told that the order didn’t make a difference.)
Thanks for your help and patience. Really!

In reply to: Moving Website to WordPressThanks for the link. I’m looking over it. Sorry for the seemingly impatience. I’ve been reading over this material since last weekend trying to figure out what to do. SOme of it i have read twice before making this post. I found some outside links. Tried them but didn’t know what to do after i got finished with that. So I’ve been frustrated because i feel like I should have to ask for support on things as frequently asked as this. It should be in the documentation. But there is nothing walking you through this for beginners.
Thanks.

Not everything is here. But its enough to answer your question. This is an old version that i put on my server as a sample.
It is a static site. Nothing special.

In reply to: From Website to WPI looked at the FAQs again and still did not find any information on this. So finally i typed in “existing website” and found a few links though the article is under development.
I found these links.
It looks to me that this is going to be a long and difficult process.

In reply to: From Website to WPI know i can turn off comments on EACH INDIVIDUAL post, but i want to know if i can make this automatic. Since i don’t wnat comments, i shouldn’t have to remember to turn it off each time i post something. I’ve not read anything on this so far in the documents.
“I’m reading Steping Into Themes and i understand the basics so far but the actual coding i have not looked at yet.”
Sorry, i wasn’t clear. I want to know if i’m in the right place to transfer my html pages and CSS pages into WP. I’m doing a lot of reading, some if it is repeated information. And you can’t tell what links you’ve already visited until you start hearing similar stuff again. So I would like to know if i’m in the right place so i can start cutting and pasting or whatever i need to do to get my website up and running with WP.
Can you provide me with some links or the titles of some articles? Thanks.
Thanks!

In reply to: Install4Free complaintsThanks, I figured it out. I worked all along. I uploaded the file to my FTP site but was trying to access it at work on my work computer. WHen i tried the link i aways got an error. But when i connected my laptop to the phone line and did it, it worked. So it was the firewall i guess. I don’t know why there was a difference.
Sorry for all the trouble but i wasn’t expecting my work computer to cause such problems.
Thanks guys. Maybe this is a lesson learned once for all times.
