  • I haven’t had a problem with spam in quite some time. I have WordFence installed and many of the WP security measures are in place.

I recently switched from a Genesis theme to a free WP theme (TopShop). Then I started getting spam. Not sure if it’s related or a coincidence.

I have now switched back to a Genesis theme. Along with WordFence, I have also added the Bad Behavior plugin and AVH First Defense. Also shut off Fast Secure Contact Form for at least 6 straight hours today. Turned back on and the spam is still coming from multiple IP’s all over the globe.

It appears spammers have found a hole or are exploiting something. All of a sudden, I am getting hammered with spam.
Will try your Bad Behavior WordPress plugin

Sorry, guess I should have left that up to the website owner. I just recommended what works for me and didn’t want any conflict between the two plugins.

No disrespect meant towards your plugin.

If you are trying to get Google Alerts to appear on your site, do this:

First, if you are not using WP RSS Aggregator for anything else but this, I would disable and remove it.

Next, install and activate the plugin RSS Multi Importer

Go to YouTube and watch a quick demo or two on it. Once you get the hang of it, it is simple. Don’t overdue it with too many feeds or you will slow your site down.

Another option is ussing https://www.rssinclude.com ($)
It will convert your xml into a PHP string.

You then install the plugin PHP Code for Post (works on pages too)on your site and insert the PHP string, it will be converted into short code. You can do unlimited feeds this way and it won’t slow your site down.

Deactivate and then reactivate MCE Table Buttons plugin
Go to a page with a table
    Click in a cell
    Click on the Tables Icon
    Mouse over CELL
    Click on TABLE CELL PROPERTIES
You should now see the V ALIGN box

Now all I need is cell background color settings back

Cell alignment TOP and BOTTOM has returned

I guess I’ll chime back in since I started this. Glad I did, maybe it’s an eye opener that there is more than a minority affected here. There are still countless others that have yet to upgrade and will soon be disappointed.

After digging more, I found out that 3.9 broke one of my favorite plugins which is MCE Table Buttons. It made using tables and editing images very simple.

Three of the many key editing options that disappeared are:
    – adding a border to an image (FIXED with Advanced Image Styles plugin)

    – aligning cell content to TOP or BOTTOM has gone away. Adding padding is not the solution (I cannot figure this one out at all)

    – adding background color to a cell has also gone away. I want to alternate cells and rows by color.

I posted in the MCE Table Buttons forum. No response.

It’s pointless to me to have to code all this in now. That will add an excessive amount of time to some sites which was previously accomplished in a couple clicks.

This is all being done to reduce the core of WordPress? What is actually gained by this. To me, and obviously many others, it is a major setback.

    Add me to the list.

Need to add borders to images without having to code that in.

Also be able to align top or bottom within a cell. That is gone too!

I also have a pet related site and would like to display available pets by location. Is there a list of shelter ID’s available so I could create individual pages for specific shelters or metro areas?
