Thanks for the notes MTIRWK. Like I said as well, I’ve disabled ALL plugins and the theme (using TwentyFourteen as a test). I would really love to get this running and resolved, otherwise I have to figure out another solution entirely. I’d say it is likely a javascript issue. Is CF7 not compatible with the newer jQuery (1.10.2:5)? Or maybe that message above has nothing to do with the issue – but I’m guessing the ajaxSubmit is part of the form handling.

VesaT – I know what you are saying and yes, the problem still exists on my local install when viewing the actual page, not the editor where it launches the settings window. I’m going to see if I can watch for PHP errors in the console when I get a chance. I’ll see if I can give any more information about my local situation. Obviously something is different than the Ubuntu install on the virtual server that I migrated to, where it works properly. Maybe something with localhost and port numbers or something, who knows.

    John (& Scott),

So, I’ve gone ahead and submitted a request. The response was basically that ‘some’ people have problems running it locally. I’m running on a pretty vanilla, yet up to date mac, running MAMP. I run many sites this way with many different plugins and frameworks. How is it that this one thing (only the NextGEN plugin) is broken, even in a clean local install of wordpress, but it can’t be figured out?

Yes, it works when migrated to a remote server. However, it is a virtual server that I configured 80% of myself and the difference between my local install and my remote install is minute as far as wordpress is concerned. And it doesn’t really fit into my workflow to always be working on the remote server.

All I’m really asking NextGEN is if someone could try to set up a local install on the mac, cause the problem (like John & I both have) and try and fix it. We can’t be the only ones who work locally and publish remotely.

I’m disappointed that I’ve paid $45 for this.

    Hi Scott,

I’m sorry for my negativity, and sorry if I spoke out of turn, but the fact remains that both John and I have tried the basic directions for pretty basic feature in various installs and it didn’t work. I’m also a software developer and understand that things happen though. I appreciate your response and help articles. I’ll take a look at them. I imagine you can reproduce the problem as it is fairly easy to cause the issue. I’ll also submit a support ticket as requested.

I should note that I’ve used the free version for years and love it! This is why I purchased the pro version. That was the cause for my disappointment. I’d love to use the pro features when it is working!

    Thanks & Happy New Year,
    Isaac

I get when small things don’t work, and even bigger things when it is free. But paid software should be tested at least somewhat which this obviously hasn’t been. I have a very immediate need for this but will have to look for an alternative…

Yeah, I have a pretty much clean local install as well. I tried a couple of themes thinking that the one I was using wasn’t compatible for some reason. I imagine it is some issue with WP 3.8. I don’t have any older ones to try it out on, though I suppose I could try an install of 3.7 – but that doesn’t really solve the problem either way.

There is either Limited Support or No Support until after the holidays…

I have the same issue. Adding a horizontal filmstrip just adds the first image to the page with no gallery, no lightbox and certainly no horizontal filmstrip. And as John says, the shortcode works, but doesn’t give the pro gallery. Looking forward to an answer as well. Thanks!
