  • I’ll go with “woof!”
    Both look really great.
    The only thing is that the flash menu doesn’t have a transparent background for me in IE.
    I really like the post author/category icons. They add a lot. Your header on the lapsed site is gorgeous.

    Great job.

    Very nice, indeed.
    I was looking into this a while. I was thinking that you could have a query that lists (theoretically) all Posts with category “Portfolio” (for instance). But I was sort of stuck as to how you could have an official “icon/logo/image” (maybe a variable??) that represents the entry and then a summary text that would lead to the whole post. Or maybe a Pages would be easier.
    I’m sorry, I don’t mean to steer off course.
    Also, I wantedt to compliment your body of work. Excellent portfolio.

    Nice site, insaint.
    I’m a big fan of inverted white/black.
    I really like the contrast that the links have with the text.
    The header graphic is really nice (It doesn’t appear on the top of the page for me, though.)
    Even AdSense is nicely integrated.

    I have only have two very minor things that I’d like to add (Very personal, so don’t take them the wrong way):
    * Pop-ups. (not a huge fan)
    * This is prolly just the contrast on my monitor, but the input boxes are hard to see. Maybe lighten the gray just a tad.
    As I said, very minor.

    Good job,
    iso

    In WP 2.0, you can edit the Timestamp of the entry in the Write Post page.
    However, I am still a little new to all of this. When I tried posting with a Timestamp later than the current time, it only appeared after we had reached that time.
    I am guessing that there is a part of the code that does something like
    show all post WITH a Timestamp <=NOW.
    If it were possible to have the “post showing” query show everything, you could simply set up the calendar and it would work.

    I hope that this is clear enough, please don’t hesitate to ask if you need more info.

    Once again, thank you all for your comments. They were quite helpful.

    GMMR, I assume you meant the links in the sidebar. I tried messing around with the links’ color. I just couldn’t get something that I was really satisfied with. I have changed the hover color, though. It is now white. Hopefully, this will make it a little easier to read when you contrast between the white and the blue while hovering over it and off again. I will investigate the palette further…

    Martijn, thank you for the checklist ??
    – increase post font size a little
    + done
    – align meta info (below the post title) to the left
    + done
    – align comments to the left
    + done
    – remove the ads ?? you have the site for making money or for having fun?
    I am a bit unsure about this one. I doubt that I will be able to quit my dayjob with the blog, but I would really like to be able to get just enough to be able to switch hosts. Part of this project is for fun, yes. (I am a geek, absolutely) The other part of it is to learn web standards and CSS properly. I know that I won’t be making any money off of those ads anytime soon. I just wanted to see what happens. I will leave them for now. But I do understand your point-of-view.
    – do not center photo’s in posts
    This is more of a redactorial issue than the theme itself. When I was posting that little article, I wanted to show off the effects with thumbnails. I was hesitant to use tables since I am under the impression that there is now a better way to align items. I completely agree that having 5 images that only take less than half of a column centered is not exactly the prettiest thing to see. I have yet to look for gallery plug-ins and such. And also, I still have some CSS learning to do.
    Thank you again.
    Cheers,

    Thank you for your replies.
    spencerp, you’re right. I really should have waited longer before bumping it. It’s not a practice that I particularly like doing. And I hope I didn’t anger anyone too much. I was so excited to show it and was simply afraid that it would fall into the eternal abyss of posts. So, my apologies to everyone.

    Thank you very much for the positive comments, though. They are much appreciated.

    Sorry to *bump* this, but I would really appreciate any helpful comments.

    Cheers ??

    Open your stylesheet and look for
    #sidebar
    {
    padding: 20px 0 10px 0;
    margin-left: 545px;
    width: 190px;
    }

    Try altering the margin-left value by 10-20px.
    Let me know if it helps.
    Cheers,iso

    OMG… I am so terribly sorry for using the wrong nick. I must have just looked very quickly at the last post rather than the post’s author.

    I like the theme. Nice strong type that is extremely legible. I actually cannot say anything but good things about your design.

    Please take these comments lightly, as they are quite nitpicky…
    It took me a few seconds to realise that your input box was for search. I know, 99% of people will know what it is and what it’s there for.
    Also, I would love to see more than one post at a time or at least be able to go from one to the next with the something like the standard [previous post title] [next post title] links somewhere on the page.

    Thank you for the refreshing look. It was quite pleasant.

    I like your design. Nice and clean. I like the extra touch of adding a header to each post, I think that it shows that you take the time to really work on your content.

    I have only one gripe: fixed font sizes. I am looking at it at 1600×1200 and the type is mighty small. Since the size is in pixels, I cannot resize it.

    Otherwise, good job. ??

    Hi lisar915,
    Does it still happen if you make the sidebar’s left margin smaller?
    (And yes, I am getting this in IE6 but not Firefox 1.5)

    I completely agree… I did actually make it smaller and it was a breeze to read. ??

    Hi Nils,
    I really like your layout. It’s extremely clean. The Entry block look really nice.
    Maybe you could collapse the archives for previous years (I wonder how many people check out archives rather than categories.)

    I’m a big fan of having pages that take up 100% width.
    However…
    I am at 1600×1200 rez and the lines of text are just incredibly long. My eyes tend to lose which line they’re on. Maybe you could have a maximum width for the entries. I realize that this would create a bit of a white-space management issue…hmm…Unfortunately, I don’t have a good solution to this (I hope this still counts as a constructive comment).

    Oh…nice palette. It make everything seem very fresh ??

    Good luck and take care,
    iso
