Well, that would be really depressing if all those robust page counts were generated by spambots! But Google Analytics doesn’t show a drop in traffic, so I’m still perplexed.
Thanks for your response. I think rather than attempt to disable all the security features now in place I’ll ask the service (Sucuri) and see what they say and whether there’s a workaround. At least some of the counts are coming through because new Top 10 data still appears on my dashboard, but just at a small fraction of the usual hit counts.

In reply to: [Top 10 - WordPress Popular posts by WebberZone] Unwanted Count ResetWeird — I just checked again and the daily popular counter new just includes two posts, showing one view a piece. Everything else that was there 20 minutes ago is gone.

In reply to: [Top 10 - WordPress Popular posts by WebberZone] Unwanted Count ResetThanks again for taking so much time to help me, and for creating the plugin in the first place. I’ve added the new code you provided to the theme function and will see if that helps. But I’m not sure you’re right about the cause: I added 4 new posts to the site today, and the count for those has also gone up and down, even though they didn’t exist 24 hours ago. The count for the brand new ones is also much lower than would be normal for new posts on our site, even for New Year’s Day.

In reply to: [Top 10 - WordPress Popular posts by WebberZone] Unwanted Count ResetThe overall popular posts listing seems to be working fine.

In reply to: [Top 10 - WordPress Popular posts by WebberZone] Unwanted Count ResetFor example, the Daily Popular counter will show a post as having 20 views at one point, and then a bit later will show it as having 1. The count changes on everything in the list from hour to hour, sometimes with lower counts for the same post and sometimes for more — and right now it’s showing the most popular post as having a grand total of 7 views for the day, which is absolutely not right. On an average day our most popular posts get 250-500 views a piece.

In reply to: [Top 10 - WordPress Popular posts by WebberZone] Unwanted Count ResetThe cache fix didn’t help. The page counts continue to go backwards and forwards with no rhyme or reason and clearly aren’t counting all page views at any given moment.

In reply to: [Top 10 - WordPress Popular posts by WebberZone] Unwanted Count ResetThank you for trying to help me. I found the editor for the theme functions.php, but since I’m not a coder I don’t know where to insert the code you are suggesting and am a little nervous about screwing it up. Where would I add the new code? (also, I will toggle the cache fix and see if that helps)

In reply to: [Top 10 - WordPress Popular posts by WebberZone] Unwanted Count ResetActually, the page count is now going backwards, with fewer page views showing on the dashboard than were shown a few hours ago. Help!
