Ha! Finally figured it out and thought I’d post back in case someone else is as newbie-ish as I was. Googled the name of the plugin; clicked on the plugin I wanted on search results page; on the resulting plugin page, the reviews and a link to “log in” to submit yours were on the right hand side. I logged in and it was done! Yay!

Happy to do so and will comment there first thing in the morning!

    Thanks so much again, Simon.

Yes, I did get the code copied exactly the same. Made doubly sure.

Given that the original web designer can no longer help us with this, I’ve decided to use anchor links for the testimonials on that particular page, but use your popup on the other 3 where it works just fine.

I very much appreciate your patience and willingness to help me get this right despite my “non techy” makeup! Your plugin is terrific and your customer support, fantastic. If you need any recommendations, I would be delighted to provide them.

    Thanks again.

Been working with this some more, Simon. Tried deleting and renaming and, you’re right, something is blocking it on this particular page. When I tried the new name/short code [infopopup:challenge] on a different page, it worked.

This page has been an ongoing challenge in my “re-messaging” and editing attempts. The designer created a very special template and its various components are buried in php and CSS and other places I’m not overly familiar with.

I suspect the page and column setup of where I’m trying to insert these popups is what’s causing the problem.

Given this (and to save you time – you’ve been wonderfully generous with your time and help!), I think I should try just a link for now and leave the popup for the total site redesign later this year.

Do you agree? I value your more experienced opinion. Thanks.

Got it. I do have that code. Does it go where I had placed all the <span> code above?

Sorry to be unfamiliar with the correct terms. I am feeling guilty about taking up so much of your time. Another possible option would be to use an “anchor link” to other site pages where there are testimonials. Not as elegant a solution but …

Not sure what the jQuery would look like (sorry) but will try your suggestions before testing plugins.

    1. I am doing the pasting in text/HTML tab. Here’s what I pasted in:
    <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span id='infopopup-link-challengetestimonials' class='infopopup-link' infopopup_tag='challengetestimonials'>Testimonials</span></span>
    Is it the shortcode?

    2. Not completely sure what you mean here. Do I change popup name from “challengetestimonials” and then make necessary changes in the code I pasted here?

Will try to follow these suggestions and really appreciate your offer if I just can’t make it work! Wow!

    Hi again, Simon,

    Here’s where I am…

Been working on your #1 suggestion in the first block on the Home page (What is it?), found the shortcode (I think) and placed it. It now shows the word Testimonials instead of the text in […], but won’t “popup” the actual testimonial. Would you have a few minutes to check what I did on Draft Home Page? (After 5 attempts, for some reason I can’t get the link to embed properly! Could you please use the Draft Home Page link in my earlier post? Sorry!)

As you suggested, I tried the same shortcode on a page where InfoPopup is working and got the same result. Obviously I’ve missed some essential code. Hoping you can see what it is.

Did check popup settings and everything looks correct there. I typed a test quote in the Content box of Settings.

Sorry this is taking so much of your time!

[Moderator Note: Please ensure that you are embedding links correctly in your posts.]

Wow! Thanks for all the suggestions. Will work through them all and let you know how I do. It’s a great plugin and I’m excited about getting it working on our revamped site.

    Hi again, Simon,

I just published the 2 draft pages and, you’re right, they aren’t visible to site visitors because they aren’t on the nav tabs!! So obvious … once you know! Thanks!

Page where your plugin works (9 proven sales skills): https://www.mygoforthegreen.com/challenge-draft-overview/

    Page where just code appears:

Please let me know if you need anything further. Your help is much appreciated!

    Hi Simon,

Sure appreciate your willingness to help. Sent you an email – not sure I can post a link that works for you since the pages I’m editing are published “privately”. If there is a way, just let me know!

Well, duh. Update: discovered how to figure it out. Posting in case someone else has this issue.

I used the Media button to insert desired image into page to see what code WP used; then, copied it and pasted it in Content box and … perfect!

By way of update, I have unchecked the “anyone can register” box in WP admin panel. A web site tech friend said we didn’t need that checked since our users are paid and come through our e-commerce plugin.

That seems to have stopped the problem. I understand there could be a number of other “things” that could allow this to occur again. For now, my fingers are crossed!

Thanks again for all the help,

Oh, now I see. Thanks for the clarification. I had thought you’d meant “don’t tell at all”! I’ll let them know if it happens again (note hopeful use of “if” and not “when”!!).

    Thanks again, very much,

You truly are a wealth of information from personal – and very relevant – experience.
Here’s my plan, given all you’ve so kindly provided: do what I can based on article you linked me to minimize the spammers filling out our contact forms; keep a daily watch on our User list in Admin panel so that, if we start getting an increase, contact TinyPass (who have been helpful on other issues) regarding a possible vulnerability on their end; avoid going to PowWeb in case I get blamed! ??
Thanks so much for all your help. Will post back with any further updates or fixes … or breakthroughs.

Okay, I appreciate your further input.

Yes, a paid user would appear in my list of users and be sent a password by WordPress since the pay wall is a WordPress plugin (TinyPass) … at least, I think that’s why it happens!

Thanks for the link to the article. I’ll read it and see if we’ve done all we can in that regard.

One final question: we use a hosting service (PowWeb). Should I advise them about this user issue so they can check it out at their end?

Your patience and clear, non-techy explanations are very much appreciated. I know it takes time and thought to help out!
