I think I see what you mean. I configured a multisite quickly. When I had only 1 site it blocked the wp-admin just fine. As soon as I added an additional site it stopped blocking.

I have not yet found out why this is. But at least – I assume – I can reproduce it.

I do not run a network wordpress installation so I have not tested this with a multisite setup.

What does not work?

I’ll see if I can setup a development environment that uses the network function so I can test the network setup as well.

With v1.0.8 (thanks to williewonka) each time you enter your backend the last update of the GeoIP database is checked and if it is over a month ago it will download a new version.

So no manual updates are necessary anymore!

Can you tell me what your think the plugin stopped being functional? I am guessing that it worked before?

Perhaps something was changed on your webserver or perhaps an item from the FAQ can explain your why it does not work anymore.

Have you read the FAQ? If you run some kind of statistics plugin it may look as if the visitors are not blocked. If you look at the RAW logfiles from the webserver (if you have access to it) it will show a 403 for those IP addresses that are blocked.

This feature has been added to v1.0.8.

Since v1.0.8 you can choose between blocking the frontend, the backend or both.

I think tommorow. Update should be finished but needs a little bit of testing on a production machine first.
