Unfortunately the theme does not provide a way to modify the width of the sidebar.
Any change of the code seems to enter in conflict with the theme and does not create the desired outcome.

Unfortunately I cannot replicate your problem, so please make sure that you click the Publish button after every final change you want to make.
Secondly, you can set the number of posts per page by going to Dashboard -> Settings -> Reading. There you can write how many posts you want to be shown on the page. Please see this screenshot for more details -> https://prntscr.com/o9v70e

If you want to modify the date, please go from your site to Edit Page at the top menu ->Posts and select edit at the posts which require to set your date. From there you have in the right section, in the document menu a Publish Tab next to it the calendar and from the there you can change it manually.

Otherwise, if you want to hide it at all, please use this code
