Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Cannot load PluginsFinal update: Turns out my web host as a data cap on my plan (100gb), it also has a file count cap on my data plan (40K files). Although I was only using 5% of my data, I maxed out the allowed number of files. Support tech did an audit and I had 40,004 files uploaded. I had multiple versions of my website on the server going back to the early 2000. Most of them work from a version using a template that made many versions of photo files for thumbnails and other insertions in the theme. Downloaded and archived the most relevant files and deleted everything else.
Problem solved. Now I can upload without problems and plugins install without problem.
Moral: When dealing with tech support, ask the same question(s) several time different ways and in different orders. It took 3 calls to tech support, each time starting do describe my problem slightly differently to finally get to the right answer. Any mention of wordpress, theme templates, plugins, etc led us down a cul-de-sac, with the tech saying the problem was outside their area of support. Even when I offered relevant hosting/server related information during those calls, they couldn’t see past the idea that WordPress was somehow involved in my issue. Only on the last call when I only mentioned server related information based on what I was experiencing with my ftp client did we resolve the issue efficiently.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Cannot load PluginsStill testing things. I believe I have isolated it all down to a single offending plugin. Will update.

In reply to: Cannot load PluginsI am able to load files via the media library. Also one of the first things I did was check permissions on file folders via my ftp client. The content/plugins folders were all set to 755.

Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Installation Error… even before I get to the install.php pageyou know… back when I was doing tech support for a big computer company my first question would alway be “is your computer plugged in?”
*cough cough*
heh…heh…heh…
wp-config-sample.php
renamed as
wp-config.php
thanks for reminding me to *really* read the instructions.
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Installation Error… even before I get to the install.php pageI read through both of the links. I am already familiar with ftp protocals etc. the one thing I did differently was to edit the wp-content-sample.php file in Textedit instead of dreamweaver.
At any rate I even tried downloading version 2.2.1 with the idea that perhaps my download was corrupt. I chose this so that I try an entirely different install package.
I am working on a Mac using OS X ver 10.4.10
I am uploading with Fetch version 5.1upon attempting to access install.php this is what I got:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: did_action() in /reckon/wp-includes/functions.php on line 1345
has anyone seen this specific kind of error before? Any
