Did you ever find a solution to this? I’m having the same problem today. It’s happening on a page rather than a post, but the same message.

Does the plugin still work in WordPress 4.0, despite generating these errors, or does it not work at all?

I’ll look at moving to Polylang. I can’t hold back on WordPress updates for the sake of an inactive plugin.
