That did the trick! Again, thank you for your time and expertise; they are both very much appreciated.

This was one of those little “I can live with it if I have to” things, but as time went by, it was bugging me more and more, so I’m really glad to have finally found a solution.

Thank the maker for volunteers like you!

    Have a great day,
    Jeff

I’m using a child theme, with the plugin Child Theme Configurator. I’ve tried activating Twenty-Twenty (non-child) theme. Nothing. I’ve tried turning off plugins one-by-one. Nothing.

Can you point me to where in the CSS these commands appear? Would it work if I “commented” them out? I remember reading about that approach at some point, and since nothing else has worked…

After poking around a bit, Bluehost (which I use) has a caching feature (not sure if it’s technically a plugin, since it doesn’t appear on my plugins list) called Endurance Cache. The level was (and still is) set to “Off (Level 0)”. Also, yes, there was a “Caching” button at the top of my dashboard. I clicked “Purge All”, but to no avail. Just to be sure it wasn’t just my computer, I briefly turned off the “Coming Soon” and checked on my daughter’s computer (which had never loaded that site previously) without logging in to WordPress, but the links were still there.

Having taken these steps, what do I do now?

    Again, Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, but this didn’t work.

    Here’s what I did:
Appearances –> Customize –> Additional CSS –> pasted your code into the textbox –> Clicked “Publish” –> Reloaded page (even tried in a different browser) –> No Change whatsoever…

In case it matters, I haven’t launched my site yet, so I’m looking at my site via “Visit Site” option at the top of the dashboard.

    Have I missed a step?

I remember reading somewhere that Twenty-Twenty isn’t set up like most WordPress themes are, so the standard solutions to standard problems often don’t work. This seems to be one of those cases.

    Again, thanks for any help.

    Alex,

    Whew! Wow! Thank you!

Seriously, I really can’t thank you enough for dealing with this so promptly! I had some rather unhappy customers this morning. (Civil, but unhappy.) Less than 12 hours after I first learned of the problem, it is fixed, and my site is now back up and running again. Thanks for making me look good. ??

    Fantastic support!

    Special Kind of Stupid

    Sorry – everything is OK.

I updated your plugin today, so I assumed that that was the source of the problem. It wasn’t. It was another plugin.

Because my plugins were playing games with each other, some seemed to work, and others didn’t. When I deleted the offending plugin (NOT this one) everything went back to normal.

Hopefully you read this message before wasting any time on my previous message.

Again, sorry, and thanks for a great plugin (Better than some others that I could name!)

    Jeff

Oops. 3.01 is the version I’m having trouble with.

When I re-installed 3.0, my previous (i.e. the one that I have been using for the past 6 months or so) button re-appeared with its previous form and functionality.

So 3.0 works fine, but 3.1, not so much. The plugin is still telling me to update to 3.1, but I’m not planning on doing so until the problem with 3.1 is fixed. (Sorry if that sounded snarky — it wasn’t meant to.)

Updated to newest version this morning. Plugin ceased working immediately, no trace of old button. (I only use one on my site.)

Tried to create new button, but when I was done creating it, I could never find any trace of it on the “Buttons” page — so there was no shortcode to insert.

When in circles three times, and then re-installed version 3.0, which has always worked fine for me, and it is back to its old self.

Hope this helps sort out some of the odd behaviour of the most recent update.

    …and thanks for the plugin!

Oops. Forgot to mark as resolved, so doing so now.

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for the quick response!

I was seeing the problem as you described it in your most recent post:

    1. You take the quiz and click ‘Submit Answers’
    2. A new tab opens up with no content in

I just updated, and everything works perfectly.

Can’t thank you enough; both for the quick support, and for the plugin itself.

Update: I found the older versions of the plugin (under “Other Versions” in the Developers tab in case anybody else is having the same issue).

I deleted the new version of the plugin, and uploaded the older version (1.4.10).

Everything is working again, and I have resumed breathing.

I’m no longer in a panic, but this is something that should probably be looked into. Alex et al, let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to take a shower.

Well, if I had my druthers, your last option sounds good; no further answers are permitted; everything except the “Submit” button could become read-only.

In a perfect world, I’d like to be able to control this from the backend. I’d like to be able to make the timer either count-up or count-down, and I’d like to be able to make the timer not present, optional or mandatory for each particular test. i.e. If it’s optional, I’d like the user to be able to decide if he wants to use it or not.

Also, I’ve seen lots of timers that only seem to be able to count in seconds. I don’t suppose it’s too much to ask that the timer work with minutes and seconds?

I have to admit that I have very little idea about the relative complexity of the features I’ve detailed here. A simple stopwatch-like timer would do the trick, too!

Thanks again, and if this isn’t clear (either the what or the why), please let me know.

Sorry! Found the answer on timeline.knightlab.com

For anybody else who is having this issue, here is the answer. (This will also work for BC dates.)

“If you’re using the TimelineJS Google spreadsheet template, first make sure the cell you want to modify is set to Plain Text — “Format > Number > Plain Text.” Then simply enter the year (e.g. 1994) or month and year (e.g. 7/1979). ”
