In reply to: Alternate Style Sheets for AccessibilityJoe Dolson, Wow! That was just what we needed. We had found and were using your plugin, but didn’t see that option. Thank you! I just rated it 5 stars and favorited it.

In reply to: Alternate Style Sheets for AccessibilityAndrew, I wonder myself, since the theme is completely responsive. But the site is in an international competition (https://www.knowbility.org/v/open-air/) to make it fully accessible to people with disabilities, and having alt style sheets will earn it 10 points. We already tested it for contrast (it did very well), but maybe the judges think that offering alternative colors would make it better for some users who have vision impairment. Some themes come with alt stylesheet options built in (HeadwayThemes does not) and impaired users may be accustomed to looking for a box which puts them in greater control of their viewing experience. I’m amazed by how much extra work goes into making a site accessible. The judges forms came back after round One with 38 points that were being judged. There’s a lot to learn from the competition and I encourage others to join OpenAir in future years.

In reply to: Alternate Style Sheets for AccessibilityI looked for “Custom CSS Manager” and couldn’t find one that lets the user select a style they like. I also looked for MANY variations such as “User Style Select” “Alt Stylesheet” “CSS Alternative Select”
Any suggestions?Dave, thank you for providing guidance! That resolved the problem nicely.
We also added some line height, margin bottom on the li and pseudo classes.
.widget_dpe_fp_widget a{display:block;line-height:150%} .block-type-widget-area li.widget ul li{margin-bottom:5px;} .block-type-widget-area li.widget ul li a:hover {color:#CC7524; text-decoration:underline;} .block-type-widget-area .horizontal-sidebar li.widget { float: left; margin: 0px 14px; width: 20%; }
DaveE,
Dmorreisse has been trying to help me with this issue. The site is on https://integralyogamagazine.org/category/hatha-yoga/ and many other secondary pages. (Thanks to the help you provided several weeks ago, I can now set up the Flexible Posts Widget to begin showing post titles in the middle column, under the video playlist, starting after six posts are displayed with titles, thumbnails and excerpts.) The problem we are now having is that the list of posts display with
<h4>
tags (which are block-level elements) and the bullets from the
<li>
appear on a line above the<h4>
s. I can display no bullets in the css, and then the list just shows okay, but I would like to have bullets with the hyperlinked titles on the same line. Is there a way I can change the tag on the<h4>
to some inline element that would have a bold font? So instead of
–
Title 1it would display as
– Title 1
Thank you for your help!

In reply to: [Ultimate Posts Widget] Ultimate Posts Widget–More Button URL questionI may have found a solution, but would like to ask if it is the best solution: I created a page called Posts and in the WP-Admin/Settings/Reading, I set the page called Posts as the Posts page. Then I made the More button URL be
https://lynnsomerstein.com/posts/page/2/Might there be a more elegant solution that would display posts 21 and older in the same widget area on the original page, https://lynnsomerstein.com/living-well-blog/
?
If not, we can be happy with the approach I’ve taken and described here. Thanks for your help.

In reply to: [Flexible Posts Widget] [Plugin: Flexible Posts Widget] Is Offset possible?WOW! Thank you so much. I hadn’t checked to be notified that you posted a reply and didn’t know about this update a week ago. Just now, I got the update. The offset is easy to use. Works like a charm.
See sample on
https://www.integralyogamagazine.org/wordpress/category/hatha-yoga/Now, I want to figure out how to hide the navigation in the main content area to the older posts.
I really appreciate your help. Tonight I experimented with Query Posts Plugin and could not get it to display the desired category. Your plugin seems much easier to work with. Yeah!
Thank you. The automatic update worked perfectly.
@yani.iliev
I’m sorry, but I’m confused after reading your reply.
What is the difference between
uninstalling the plugin via wordpress wp-admin interface.
and
When you delete the all-in-one-event-calendar folder from wp-content/plugins data is NOT deleted
?
On https://donnalancaster.net, I had gone into wp-admin/plugins/installed plugins. Found the all-in-one-event-calendar plugin (it was v 1.5). I deactivated it and then deleted it (stupidly clicking okay when it showed a warning that the data would be lost).
On another site with more data, that I would hate to lose, https://citizensdistricting10-1.org, how can I upgrade from 1.5 to 1.7 without losing any data? Will the automatic upgrade do that?
@yani.iliev The experiment was successful. After deleting the older versions, I installed v 1.7 and it seems to work fine without crashing the site. The only s.n.a.f.u. was that I foolishly deleted all the data and had to rebuild it manually. Thankfully, there wasn’t much.
I may try upgrading on the first site–but without deleting the data first–so it will, I hope, transfer from v1.5 to v1.7.
@yani.iliev thank you for the quick response.
It was the version 1.7 that today broke the site donnalancaster.net. I had a copy of 1.5, and when I installed that there was no problem. Since you were kind enough to offer further assistance, a little later tonight I will delete the all-in-one-event-calendar folder from wp-content/plugins and try again to do a clean install of 1.7. I’ll let you know how it goes.
@sauril I just had the plugin break in another site. There was a problem with both 1.6.6.3 and 1.7. I could only recover by renaming plugins to deactivate all and then reactivating all but the all-in-one calendar by bit.ly.
I was only able to work with 1.5. Must be an incompatibility with one of my other plugins. If you care to know what they are, please let me know how to inform you (preferably of this forum). The site is https://donnalancaster.net.
Thanks.I’ll look for 1.7. Is there a mailing list I can get on so I’ll know it’s time to upgrade?
I had a big problem today when I used One Click Updater and it updated the All In One Event Calendar to 1.6.3. It completely broke my WP site (no errors, just a white screen). By renaming Plugins to plugins-bu, I got my site and dashboard back, then renamed the folder back to plugins, and one by one activated the plugins until it was clear that 1.6.3 caused the problem. Then I found this thread and installed 1.5. That put the calendar back but all my monthly recurring events are gone and I must restore them.
I’m surprised to read on this thread that 1.6.3 is working for others, for it broke my site and I will advise other people using it to not do the upgrade until it’s clear it can be used. Hope to hear back from people who know more. The site I had the problem with is
