I’m trying to speed up my site, and one suggestion was to change the path to point directly to the wp location, removing the https. Any little thing I can do to improve speeds will be helpful – I don’t think I’m going to get more traffic until the site loads faster.

I’m trying to use Hummingbird, but I don’t find messages like this helpful:

I’ve love suggestions on plugins that actually work.

It’s clearly not a classic theme. And I’m not seeing where a CSS plugin is going to help. I know where to enter the additional CSS, I just don’t know what to enter.

As far as I can tell, it’s not in the global colors. Which is why I’m looking to add it via additional CSS.

That was exactly it! Thank you so much! The theme has global options for colors, but that area wasn’t covered. So I just added it to the additional CSS and I’m good to go.

My next question will probably be about mobile speed. But that can wait.

So even though I’ve gone into Adsense and turned off ads in several locations, Google is going to keep that space open and blank?

Well, I have tried about a dozen snippets of custom CSS, but this is apparently beyond anyone on here.

That seems to have wiped all ads from the main page, and puts them behind content on the individual posts, so they show up a bit “ghosty”.

Yeah, that doesn’t address the issue. The ads have been removed. There is still a big open space.

I would have done that first if I thought it was specific to the theme.

I got the backup and update done, but when I query my DB, it shows all posts have a category of 0. Makes it hard to move them around via scripts. What am I missing?

Ok, I figured out that I’m on 2.6.2, but last time I updated, I broke everything. Is there an easy to follow guide for updating to the latest release?

I have no idea at this point which files go where.
