i get load issues too. A caching mechanism (by plugin and maybe built-in cache) seems doesn’t resolve the load problems, because there are millions combination of search term. In my experience, caching mechanism created more burden on the server (i was using W3 total cache).the only solution now is to deactivated the plugin during peak hours.

I’m using last version of the plugin and of WP 3.0.
if I use : “www.mysite.com/search/commonterm+commonterm” return to not found or no results, if i use “www.mysite.com/search/commonterm commonterm” search results appear. + sign is the problem???

i just want both of permalinks above work perfectly, both of them have search results. any ideas?

seems there are some function added into wordpress 3.x that create this error. Another search plugin has the same issue: https://core.sproutventure.com/issues/1118
