So what you’re saying is there is no way to backup anything then? Because that’s what I keep asking. How do I save my crap to avoid this from happening again. If I want to use hosting with another company, how do I save my crap? If I want to go to a free blog, like Blogger, how do I save my crap?

I thought since it showed up on WordPress that it’d stay there. I’ve used other blogging software before and anytime I left the blog and came back, my content was still there. I understand I’m an idiot because I really don’t get this, but please don’t talk to me like that. I need help, not patronizing.

How do I backup WHATEVER needs to be backed up so that this won’t happen again.

I just don’t understand how if I did everything in WP why it’s gone, hosting or not.

@Cubecolour, yes, I uploaded the theme (which was the last one that I chose to use – after having the blog for a year). This was the only thing I did with GoDaddy in that entire time.

@esmi, right, but my hosting expired on the 1st. I was just able to renew it last night but I didn’t know that everything would be deleted when the hosting canceled. I did all of my work in WP which is why I don’t understand why there is nothing there.

What I don’t understand is that if I completed everything in WordPress why is everything gone? I didn’t upload anything to GoDaddy, nothing but the theme.

But, when I sign into WP, it uses the same username/password, has the same information, it shows my website stats, etc. I don’t get why all my posts have been deleted when I didn’t do anything in GD. I signed into GD maybe 3x in the last year.

OK, I had to upload twice but it worked. Do I need to change, delete, or update any of the plug ins?

I’m on a Mac. Do these same directions work there as well because when I right click, I don’t see “extract all.”

OK @esmi, but it seems like a lot of other people have been having this same non-Wordpress problem .Like I said classic run away mentality.

@samuel, the problem is that I don’t know how to do a manual update. When I decided to do this blog, the hosting was paid for by a company. All I did was buy the domain, choose the theme, and have been blogging ever since. So, I have no idea where to go to manually update anything.

So, I don’t really understand that. It’s WordPress’ problem because of their upgrade and I’m the one that’s supposed to fix it? Classic run away mentality. Thanks for your help.

I really wish I could show a screenshot so you can see what I’m talking about because either I’m not explaining it well enough or you’re not understanding it.

If I knew anything about coding, I wouldn’t be on this forum. If I knew what a freaking file transfer protocol was, I wouldn’t be on this forum. This is gibberish to me.

Ok, I just stated that my dashboard doesn’t open. The only page that will is statistics. How am I going to change the theme?
