Don’t worry, mate. No harm has been done ??
Anyways, I’ve mae some changes and was wondering if you want to test the Beta version and check for problems again. In case you do, please download WPP v2.1.5 beta here.
Hi Ed,
Let’s see if I understood this correctly: what you want is to be able to determine who can see the views count on the front-end, right?
About the views count, thing is that my plugin keeps it own registry – it doesn’t import the data created by other plugins. That’s why the data shown by my plugin differs from what the WP-PostViews plugin has. This guy here has successfully imported the views count from the WP Lesterchan Views plugin to WordPress Popular Posts, maybe he can guide you through the process. I might consider add a way to import this data on a future release of my plugin though since some other people have requested this in the past, too.
I see, but why do you want to do that exactly?
Hey Martin,
Think I got something working. Please download v2.1.5 beta here and let me know the results, alright? It should filter out all these custom Youtube links (and added other extra stuff that should be stripped out, too).
Been thinking about yor idea and while I think it’s great, it’s also a bit difficult to implement now. Will keep it in mind, though!
Hi Jeffrey,
You mean like some characters are not being encoded properly?
Hi ozkan,
Sorry, I’m not following here. What do you mean by “increment post’s view count by code”?
Hi Martin,
For that, it is necessary to hack the excerpt method built-in in my plugin to remove these links before returning the text. Will look into this and come back with a patch so you can test it.
Hi Max,
I’m seeing that you’re using the monthly shortcode on your sidebar. When you said “back end stats” I assume you’re talking about the WordPress Popular Posts Stats, right? If so, mind posting a screenshot of your back end stats?
Good to know that everything’s fine!
Thank you for using my plugin!
Hi angeliech,
Can you please post a screenshot of your Custom HTML Markup settings?
To be honest, haven’t checked on WP-PostRatings for a while now. Will take a look into the one you suggested and if it proves to offer a better performance than WP-PR then I can add support to/replace WP-PostRatings with it.
Thanks for the link, btw!
Hi Travis,
Thanks for the report. You also mentioned that WP_DEBUG listed some errors, mind also telling me which ones so I can check them out? You only listed the warnings.
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for your suggestion. Any reasons why you prefer GD Star Rating above WP-PostRatings?
Hi xxsemmiexx,
After a long, quite, relaxing weekend I’m back again! Anyways, can you please check if there are any images on your wordpress-popular-posts/scripts/cache folder?
@qasker: thanks for reporting! Will implement this fix on the next release of my plugin.
Damn. Alright, just uploaded a new update. Give it a try and let me know what happens again, alright?
Will come back here tomorrow as I’m a bit tired and need some rest now.
P.S.: sorry to bother you with all this testing, remote debugging isn’t easy. Thanks for your patience!
