I’m not sure if this helps or not, but after installing I got the same ‘fatal error’.
I noticed that the permissions on the cache folder within wp-content were set wo www-data (Web server) and not the user like the rest of the files. When I changed the owner of the cache file everything worked fine and the fatal error went away after refreshing.
