I like the .htaccess route because it stops things quickly. I am always concerned about using processor time to make things happen.
I am also looking at using the built-in pfctl PacketFilter options in the Mac OS X Firewall. Even if I use the pfctl option, I will still be using the Stop Spammers plug in with the Red Herring Add-on because it is amazing. … I use the Stop Spammers log for checking out the bad ip numbers because it has the direct links to the four major spam reporting sites. … I love it!

Oh well. … I can always hope. ??
That would be a cool plugin if it used me as a filter. … ?? … If there were a link on the Log Report, along with the
I mean that, currently, I monitor the Stop Spammers Spam Prevention plugin, and then I take recurring bad actors from the Log Report and add them to my .htaccess file as part of the deny set.
I do have more than one than one .htaccess file for the wordpress server. One for the document/root level, and one for the wp-admin level.

In reply to: admin-ajax.php requests in my logI too, have this question. I have no real idea as to why this one ip number gets to claim that it is “Options-General” … I deleted the Good ip cache, and then, a couple minutes later, it came back and got a direct allow admin-ajax.php?

Thank you. … My major concern is that I can find nowhere that options-general logged in, but 70.210.130.65 has been moved into the Good Cache. …
I have deleted it a couple times from the good cache, just to see what would happen. … Nothing much happens, they just go to the /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php page, and 70.210.130.65 gets added to the good cache.

I screwed up the update process.
In trying to fix the problem I went to modify the .htaccess file, only to discover that the .htaccess was non-existent.
Ooops.
I put the .htaccess in its place, and all was as it should be.

In reply to: Write permissions? Upload to a Mac OS X 10.5.8 serverThank you Andrea, but I am still not clear. … I think I make changes, but the changes I make do not work for me.
Here is what happens when I try to upload an m4v video into a post. … I have changed the settings and added m4v.
WordPress asks for the file I want to upload, and then it starts uploading, the progress bar proceeds to 100%. Then, at the end of the bar, it says “Crunching”
Then I get this error.
“VideoTest02-iPhone.m4v” has failed to upload due to an error

SOmeone has permission, I mean the folders, 2011 and 06, were created when trying to upload.
MyComputer = root

In reply to: Transition from 3.0 to 3.1.3 – Network Admin lostRight! “tld” How can I get rid of that? Where does “tld” live? …
It is part of the wp-config file where the define for DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE is set at ‘community4health.tld’
Is that wrong? Is it referenced anywhere else? Where should I look to fix it?
I logged into a subsite. … This one is innovation, and here is a little video of the result. …
Link to small video of the results of trying to go to Network Admin.
Yes. … Hmm, well. …
I upgraded manually from 3.0 to 3.1.3
