The only problem with 3/2 col switchers is that they’re going to have to make up a new category for them in the WP theme lists:-)

Thanks again Root for pointing out that little trick with home.php! That theme is really only a stable version of the proof of concept which I’m playing around with on my local testbed.

When I get a bit more time, I’ll sit down and have a proper look at working things through as well as take a deeper look at the ever knowledgable codex.

Semantically, h2 is a better descriptor than div. As Cypher mentioned, if it is only styling that you’re after (i.e. a font change) it’ll be better to change the CSS style sheet.

Great work Kohlmannj! I’ve been making minor modifications to the admin area (removing and simplifying rather than styling) but your work seems significantly more interesting than what I’ve been doing.

I agree. Very nice design. I’d be tempted to keep the current pearl white colour scheme as it gives it a clean, pure look.

Archives are *extremely* important!
If I come across a blog that was previously unknown to me and I found the content to be interesting, I would look through his or her older posts as a gauge of whether or not they were worth coming back to or if they have any other posts that stand out.

Likewise, if I’m looking for a particular post (or group of posts), then the archives are the first place to look at.

As with all plugins, you’ll need to place the script in your /wp-content/plugins/ directory.

This sounds like something that can be handled by Nick Momrick’s recent posts plugin. The plugin takes in a number of parameters, two of which are the number of posts retrieved (1 i.e. the latest one) and whether or not you want a extract (abstract).

I’ve made a bug fix to the theme for when there are no comments. There was an oversight before which meant that the comment div wasn’t opened leading to the sidebar being ‘pushed down’ the page.

The updated code is available from my theme page but will still be present on Alex King’s WP theme contest.

Hmmm, did a quick search on Mosquito before submitting. It appears that it’s already been submitted and been set to ‘won’t fix’ on the grounds that “They can figure out usernames a million easier ways”.

A bit of a shame as it would be trivial to resolve but I understand the reasoning.
