In reply to: 404 error: sub-domain installyeah, it seems im getting more light. if i try ‘anything.mydomain.com’, it redirects to a ‘cPanel’ page, which first two lines read:
Great Success !
Apache is working on your cPanel? and WHM? Server.so if this is where the problem lies, how do i fix it.
thank you very much everybody.Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: 404 error: sub-domain installok dgilmour, thanks for the response.
this is my .htaccess file ‘as is’ below:Options FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L] # uploaded files RewriteRule ^files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$1 [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d RewriteRule ^ - [L] RewriteRule . index.php [L]
as an aside, im thinking of, may be, a plugin may fix the problem.
thanks for the support.Forum: Networking WordPress

In reply to: how to change admin usernamethanks ipstenu, i have done that.
one more question: in WP single site install, there are functions like getbloginfo(), getoption(), and so on, available to get info about a single site and to manipulate. in a multisite scenario, what are template tags available such that for manipulating contents to be served based on the site name/id.for example, if i want a content for my mobile site only, what template tag/parameters are my to use.
thank youForum: Networking WordPress

In reply to: domain-based multisite networkYes, I did actually move WP to site’s root directory and then enabled WP multisite following the instructions on ‘create network page’. But now when I make request to the server, I get blank pages. Please can somebody help, I need to bring my site quickly. Thank u

In reply to: domain-based multisite networkthank you so much roy.
i moved WP to my root directory, effectively changing WP address from “mydomain/blog” to “mydomain”. and i also enabled WP Multisite in WP-Config file which showed up “network setup” under Tools menu. everything seems to be set for setup, so i swithced off my syystem to take a rest, only for me to start up my browser and navigate to my root directory, “mydomain” to get a blank page instead logging me in to my site so that i may complete the network setup.
i dont know what the fault can be. is it because i didnt complete the network setup before turning off my system? or where am i missing it?
this is the problem in sum: if i navigate to my root directory where i have WP, i get a BLANK page and that did not happened yesterday before closing my browser.
i need help . thank you all for the time.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: .htacess and index.php filessorry it seems im clear on that now. that should be a question of integrating my existing non-blog site with WP blog site.
one last thing, what if i have an index.HTML file already existing in my domain’s root. will i have to rename it index.html.old too?
thanksForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: .htacess and index.php filesesmi,
thank you for being there for me. i will do that. so, please, sorry for this ‘foolish’ question, what will be the result of this action. or let me put it this way: will doing this allow me to use WP functions in my old PHP files anywhere on my site?thanks once again for the time.
