  • Thank you for your reply Simon. I truly doubt that my host is running an OLD version of PHP. I have 2 sites running on PHP 5.5.35. They never have and I haven’t read of any recent PHP updates.

I did solve the problem by deleting the entire folder. I am NOT going to install the new version. As a plugin author you should have checked the most commonly used recent versions & not just the last one. OR YOU SHOULD HAVE warned the plugin users that it MIGHT not work on versions older than X.

I will NOT be using this plugin in the future. It has been removed from three of the four sites that I maintain.

I have the same problem and it’s on THREE of my four sites. I’m extremely unhappy. It’s not the first time this plugin has caused me a problem. The previous time it was an aggravation. When you bring my site crashing down for HOURS — once I have it back. This plugin will NEVER be in use on any of my sites again. I can’t “afford” it.

Yes! I second that request. It would help to be able to get the IPs & put them in an Excel spreadsheet then be able to block ranges,

Josh — thank you for your quick response. I think most of your work will be on the Pro version. I urge you to take a look at adding some capability back to the free version. A LOT of us simply can’t take on a high-cost plugin. It’s not a lack of desire. It’s a lack of $$$$.

David — I agree. For me WP Edit lacks so MUCH of what TinyMCE had. I’m using it. But am definitely looking for something better.

I started getting these on two of my three sites, all run on different servers. I contacted my host company and the errors disappeared on one of the sites and still exists on the other one. I have a brand new WP site on that same server which installed at 3.9 with no problems. However, when I just now tried to install a plugin — got the same errors on lines 119, 287, and 435. All of those deal with the $ssl response.

The first two tries by the host company on this company have not worked. I’ll include some of the comments here — now that I know absolutely it is a SERVER error.

I discovered today that you don’t have to have the minify aspects of WP Total Cache turned on. It blocks subscriptions of Jetpack from working. I didn’t even have to disable all plugins. I did Total Cache first — and amazingly, subscriptions started working again.

I’m off to find another “cache” plugin. Oh — it appears this was failing across ALL three of my sites.

Just had the same experience — updated image on the site but old image being shown. EVEN after I had DELETED that old image and done the whole replacement bit for it. Am using the “Enable Media Replace” for the rest. Still the old images.

Read this thread — and deactivated the Photon in the Jetpack. Problem solved.

Lesson learned — while developing a site, keep that part of Jetpack turned off.

Sorry I didn’t get back to you much sooner. My excuse is Christmas. ??

I did figure out what you meant in your instructions and was successful. Most people will need to do the same thing I did — add some CSS to eliminate the header of the new page & probably the breadcrumbs as well. This is very easy to do with a display: none; once you know what the IDs and/or the CLASSes are.

This site is under development but I will try to remember to re-edit this post after it goes live so people can see the end result.

I have three WordPress sites. One shows 3 columns in the admin area. That’s my preference. The other went from 4 columns prior to the 3.8 upgrade to 2. And I can’t change it! I hate that I can’t change it! Want the configurable columns back. I do NOT want to go fiddling with the admin code!

The picture goes into the Featured Images — that’ on the right of your editing space.

I also have the error. Appears on upgrade to anything. I will wait, though, for you folks to thoroughly test. It doesn’t seem to keep upgrades (of anything) from “completing successfully”.

Hmmmm — you are definitely giving me some ideas to work with. For example, No need to mark the genre if there is only one book.

One question regarding “Use the templating functionality”…

Should that go in a child theme?

Kelli — nice to “meet” you. Thanks so much for your work in finding the culprit. I’ve added that to the CSS and it fixed all the pages. You can take the rest of the day off. ??

I’m going to notify the ElegantThemes folks about this on their particular theme. BTW, ElegantThemes have added to their templates a section in their ePanel for CSS. In doing so, if that’s the only changes needed, you don’t have to create a child theme. It was fast & easy to implement your CSS update.

Honestly I’ve been working on the home page so much until I found your excellent plugin that I had not noticed the problem on the other pages. You went far beyond what I hoped for.

So good to know the “turn off/on more books sections” was already being considered.

Anything else I can do to “help”, just let me know. ~~ Lynda

Oh heck — while I’m asking for the moon….

Is there a way to turn these off or on?
    — View more books written by this author.
    — View more books in this series
    — View more books in this genre

Add periods to the last two.

BUT what I would like is to be able to at the series & genre level to set on or off. For example, If there is only one book in the Christmas series (right now), then we don’t want to ask to view more. Sounds like we don’t know what we are going. Same thing with genre.

Same thing happens in genre. An author may have 10 books in one genre & just starting out in a new one.

Enough said — if you have any questions, let me know.

I’ve made the updates to the other book. It shows how you can bring in other images or use CSS to give a genre or a series a slightly different look with the SAME book template.
