  • Just today I tracked a really bad problem to twitme. The googlebot stopped crawling my site – it reported it as unreachable. After beating my head against a brick wall, I deactivated all of my plugins. The googlebot could then reach my site. Through the process of elimination, I determined that it was twitme that was causing the problem. Once I deleted it, the Googlebot was once again happy.

alism, again thanks. I never said it was new.

I’ve dug through my .htaccess file – that was one of the first things I tried. I’ve deactivated my plugins and checked the googlebot results and get the same results – google sees content other than the real content when it crawls the pages, all about pharmaceuticals.

I’ll keep trying to track it down.

If anyone has experienced this issue and has resolved it, I’d love to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

alism, again, thanks for the response. I am on the latest version of WordPress. I have scanned my PC for malware, and in fact, had FTP access locked down and restricted the last time that my WordPress sites were hacked.

This isn’t the ole extra/hidden admin hack. It is quite different.

This is a very specific hack. They are cloaking or redirecting the googlebot to content that is different than my pages.

Has this specific hack happened to anyone else? If so, any pointers on where they may have made changes to do this cloak or redirect?

Thanks for the response alism. Yes, I have been hacked. I would like to determine where the hack occurred if at all possible.

I deactivated all plugins and looked at the results the googlebot fetched, and still had the problem.

Has this problem happened to anyone else?

I have a CSS question, I am afraid. I apologize in advance, but hope someone can help me out.

What would the alignnone look like so that you can place images side-by-side in a post?

    Any help is appreciated.

Just an fyi, in case anyone else has this problem. After reviewing my site, I had many php files uploaded into my wp-content folders.

Does anyone know of a way to monitor activity so that one might be notified if these sorts of files are added to your sites?

I got an answer on this from someone who notified me that a phishing hack and been placed in my wp-content folder (file: online.php). Additionally, a .htacess file had ben loaded into the same directory.

    Not good.

I have this exact same problem. I have been scouring the net for a solution, but can’t find one.

The odd thing is, it works great on one of my blogs, but on another blog, when I change the thumbnail from 96 pixels to anything else, the thumbnail looks terrible.

Plugin problem or server problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

And I just found a solution, though it is messy because it will require editing with each WordPress upgrade:

I am looking for a solution for this as well. I would prefer a thumbnail width of 150 or 200 pixels. When I try to do this with the ImageManager plugin, it distorts the thumbnail so that it is unusable.

Is there a way to do this with either ImageManager or with the default WordPress thumbnail generation?

    Help is greatly appreciated.

This didn’t resolve the problem. Additionally, now when I try to post a test comment, it hangs the script. The comment ends up in the moderation cue, but as a commenter, the script hangs until a “CGI timeout error” is received.

Turning off email notification in the options stops the comment script from hanging.

    Any ideas?

Ahem. Nevermind. I searched the forum and educated myself, which I should have done in the first place ??
