You should use a sub-domain (which is subdomain.domain.com)

An addon domain is just an additional domain name added to your hosting account (which will cost you money to get whereas a subdomain is free).

The site loaded from my end so it’s probably a caching issue from your end.

Try flushing your DNS cache or open from a fresh system.

I use a membership plugin on my multi-site and so I never had issues with redirection.

Many e-commerce and membership plugins automatically handles redirect to a custom page upon logging in.

Are you logged in as an admin? If not make sure you have the right permissions.

From what you wrote, I understand you have separate installations of MYSQL and PHP, if that is true can you try using a Web Server software like XAMPP or Local by Flywheel?

I believe that would solve your problem.
