Thank you @rsouzaam. I have taken a localhost copy and followed the check for conflicts. Definitely a conflict between the Sydney theme and the WPForms plugin. So that’s a result.
It’s going to take an enormous amount of work to change the theme, it’s a fairly large website now. I wonder if the team at aThemes can help? I notice that their pro version cites a ready-made contacts page, but our club can’t justify the cost of pro as we don’t make money from our website. Thanks again for your patience.
I must use your advice and search for a conflict, but I must rebuild my localhost copy with up-to-date versions and being an amateur that will take me some time. Sorry I went quiet on you.
Now I’ve been back to the site as WordPress admin and I’ve selected WPForms builder – +Add New ; Select Template – Simple Contact Form. Made no changes, clicked Preview. The Submit button is invisible until I hover the mouse over where I know it should be and it appears as an outline button with black text.
I’m using Sydney theme. Thanks @rsouzaam for looking at this for me. You tell me “the issue is because you added custom CSS which removed the border-color, color, and background-color from that button.” but I have not added such code ever. Agreed that using “inspect” on the contact-2 page shows a lot of suspect attributes but it’s not my CSS. The article “Customizing the Submit Button” seems very much like the code snippet you’ve offered me and it does not appear to address my problem. I’ve written to the forum because my knowledge is severely limited, sorry!
