Sorry, I have been away for the past couple of days. For the colours, we use tags because there are too many. Each brand and range has its own colour unique colour name, so instead, we generalise using tags. For example, Reds, Browns etc.

The issue is not the number of colours. I have activated the plugin again so you can review it. You will see that all shop pages that have the plugin enabled are very slow and sometimes time out. But pages that don’t use it are really fast.

We can’t really activate the plugin as it kills the site.

We have created 5 presents. Approx 1000 products with many more variations. Not many categories, about 30. We have only 1 attribute for colour, but there are thousands of colour options.

The best we can do is activate the plugin for a short period for you to diagnose.

I am glad to confirm the following:

1. Yes, 123-reg does support wp_mail
2. The php mail() is setup and working correctly from your hosting account as the form is sending emails correctly (the issue is only the delivery confirmation email);
3. I’m afraid that 123-Reg does not support any email to be used as the From: email, this address must always be your domain (which it is)
4. Setting up a SPF record should not influence the current issue in any way, although it is recommended in general to have one set up.

As the form was previously tested and is correctly sending emails, the issue being only the automatic delivery confirmation email, I am inclined to believe that the problem is not caused by the hosting, otherwise no emails would have been sent.
