In reply to: Can’t update plugins since 5.8 UpgradeSuddenly the problem has gone away for my two sites. I can only guess it was plugin/theme related and a recent update has fixed it.
The change in behaviour was noted after a number of plugin updates were applied via a third-party dashboard (the only way I could do updates) – plus the first theme update since the problem started (I use Poseidon).
Other than that, I cannot point to any other solution. Hope it is solved for you guys as well!

In reply to: Can’t update plugins since 5.8 UpgradeI reported it as a bug and this was picked quickly up by “audrasjb” who could not reproduce it on a clean install and asked for screen shots – which I added. However, although the bug has now the status of “assigned”, there has been no further correspondance. Lets hope it is being worked on as it is becoming frustrating.
For info, I use a couple of plugins developed by 10web. The pro versions come with a plugin (10web manager) that links to an external dashboard. This allows me to see which of my plugins need updating and, fortunately, I’ve been able to update them remotely via that dashboard. (I don’t have this plugin installed on my test site so I can rule this out as being the cause of the problem).

In reply to: Can’t update plugins since 5.8 UpgradeI have the same issue with my site, I briefly see the number of updates available against the plugins and updates menus but when opening the update page it shows all plugins, themes and translations are up to date – even though they clearly aren’t.

In reply to: [WP Fastest Cache] Login status issue since 2020/10/01 updateYes, the “Don’t show the cached version for logged-in users” is enabled. The cache works fine normally – it only has this problem after a WordPress update.

In reply to: [WP Fastest Cache] Login status issue since 2020/10/01 updateHi Emre. I have the same problem. Whenever WP core is auto-updated the home-page does not update on user log-in – the site then appears as though the user is not logged-in. In reality the user is logged-in successfully. Doing a refresh of the screen does not help.
Just clearing the cache and minified CSS/JS does not work. A workaround is to disable wp-fastest cache plugin and then reload the home-page. Once the plugin is re-enabled (and the cache cleared) it all works fine again – until the next auto-update…

In reply to: White admin screens for editor roleHi
All magically resolved. Either a server resource problem or a conflict fixed by a couple of plugin updates released today??
Anyway – all good, and thanks for the input.

Anyway – all good.
OK – thanks for the help. I think I am up and running again now.
Thank you for the quick reply. How long should the re-run of the migration take? There is a message on the Help & Info page saying “Your database is being updated in the background. Please be patient” but no apparent activity.
Thanks Ian

In reply to: Site hacked and init.php lockedMany thanks for the quick replies!!! I could not open/download the file via filezilla to see what was in it – but a quick phone call to the hosting provider did the trick and it is now deleted. I was very nervous about just deleting it as I wasn’t sure what would happen – but apparently the site is still alive and hopefully that will fix it in the short-term. So, now time to clean up the site and go through the security measures as recommended.
Thanks again for the help!!

In reply to: WordPress app on android will not post anymoreI went the other route – deactivated JetPack and everything now works fine (and my site runs significantly faster). I was using Jetpack for various things – subscribe, contact forms, widget visibility etc so it has been a real pain to find alternative plug-ins and configure and test them to replace the functionality.
For info, WP app for iPhone was also failing to post correctly – post went through to site but images not displayed. This also fixed by deleting JetPack.

In reply to: WordPress app on android will not post anymoreOne other thing – I had raised this as a support issue using the in-app contact support feature. The nice support people got back to me to say that a new version 7.9.1 would fix the problem – it didn’t. I have just passed on what I have found so lets hope it helps them with a fix.
