Having just gone to update the plugin today – my website showed as “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Try again in a minute.” After some time I managed to get back in and now the Wordfence plugin has deleted itself too. The Dashboard shows “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete –?please attempt the update again now.” This doesn’t work.
Same here, and the authorisation code won’t work either. So you basically have no stats showing

In reply to: [Wordfence Security - Firewall, Malware Scan, and Login Security] 503 errorsThanks, I ended up deactivating and also resetting all the settings on wordfence. Appears ok now having re-installed the plugin.
Thankyou, it wasn’t due to security plug ins – but the script seemed to work. Do I need to remove that script once its been used? Or leave it where it is?

In reply to: Harmonic theme Social & Navigation menu font hover colourPerfect, thanks for helping me out on this Siobhan ??

In reply to: Harmonic theme Social & Navigation menu font hover colourthank you Siobhan,
That worked for the main navigation links but the social menu icons don’t appear to do the same. It almost seems to flash momentarily green but reverts to the standard sky blue colour when I hover.

In reply to: Images not showing on webpagesThank you so much Kathryn, I was about to return to wordpress.com as my content is still there, and forget about self-hosting as Ive had so much trouble with this migration. However, by turning off the Photon module it appears to have allowed my images to appear (I’m guessing it is enabled as default).
Im no expert, but Im certainly going to contact jetpack support to enquire about this a little more so I can understand it. But hopefully this will allow me to continue self hosting rather than going back to the restrictions of a wordpress.com site.
Once again thank you

In reply to: Images not showing on webpagesThat doesn’t surprise me considering this whole migration has been a nightmare. You’re going to have to forgive me but I wouldn’t have a clue how to find images in FTP. I’m thinking whether it would be just simpler for me to delete the images in my media library and then re-upload them?

I will get onto my ‘helpful’ hosts next and attempt to get that hosting issue sorted.

In reply to: migrate from .com to .org with Planet HippoThanks James, I will leave it for now until the morning. Hopefully planet hippo will come back with a more helpful response as they’ve told me to use ftp! Your explanations are way more clear and trusting for which I am very grateful. Clearly that’s the route to take as you advised

In reply to: migrate from .com to .org with Planet HippoThanks James, thats correct I’m up to step 3 but without any knowledge of a temporary domain, I am as you say stuck. I have requested a transfer code and I now have it but loathe to give this to my new host yet, as I am completely in the dark.
My concern is although I have installed wordpress from the cPanel I don’t see any kind of icon on it yet. Am I right in thinking there should be something to click i.e. the W icon for wordpress after I have gone through the install process? Let alone Jetpack – I wouldn’t know where to look to install that either.
I don’t want to move to step 5 and give them the EPP code as I am very unsure of how I would even attempt to step 3 or 4. There’s no online help or guides and their ticket system has been very non descript on what I actually have to do. I was thinking this whole process looked quite logical from the wordpress.com move guide.
