Do not use the date picker. You have to type the date in mm/dd/yyyy format. That was my experience, anyway…

I feel your pain. I struggled with this for quite awhile. But I found that the date picker doesn’t format the date right.

In WordPress, go to “Appearance” > “Topbar Countdown” and scroll down to the “Countdown to” section. Type in the date in “mm/dd/yyyy” format (i.e. 04/15/2017). This fixed my problem. Hope it helps.
