Thank you @bernicechua. I’ve send you the email but I’ve been able to break it down. This way, it works:

1. Add image to media library
2. Add alt text to image in media library
3. Create page, with the image
4. The alt text field for the image in the page editor contains the alt text

The following way doesn’t work and is the way I’ve done it.

1. Add image to media library (I add all my images in bulk)
2. Create page with this image
3. Add alt texts to my images in media library
4. image on page does not contain alt text, neither does it on the page editor

thank you for replying so fast!

Unfortunately this is not working. Below I’ve attached images to give as an example:

In the first image you see an image with an ALT text in the wordpress media library

Here in the second image you see the stackable page editor with that image, not having an ALT text specified.

In the third screenshot here, you can see the rendered HTML. the image does not have an alt text.

Therefore, I think the alt text from the media library is not used in the template as a fallback for when the alt text empty in the page editor.
