Under Settings > Permalinks, add .html to the end of the Custom Structure field, like: /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html

I just had a problem with the is_front_page() function not working. It had worked for days but something had changed and I couldn’t work out what it was. I checked my theme code over and over again but I could find no errors. I was about to completely reinstall WordPress until I realised something was missing from the “Reading” settings.

It turns out the problem was that the top “Front page displays” radio button had unchecked itself (I have no idea how) and because I had no pages the “Front page displays” settings were hidden.

Thanks, Otto42, for explaining why the settings are hidden but after this little experience I have to agree with cnymike that they should always be displayed. ??

I have the same problem. I can’t find an explanation in the documentation, or anywhere else, as to why the title attributes are there, how to change them or how to completely remove them. :-/
