Are these wordpress.com websites?

It seems on there website they do say they integrate things to make WordPress more secure etc..

What is in these files?

Do what it says, delete the existing tables in the database..

I take it , as you are hosting on a personal computer, that this is not a production website??

Try deactivating your plugins, see if the error goes away.

Have you tried changing and then saving your permalinks, and make sure your .htaccess file is correct and in the root of your website.

What help would you like?

What part are you ‘actually’ stuck on?

Not sure how you can have the same issue with a manual instal.

You don’t need to use command line to reset your password. I am sure your web host will have something like PhpMyAdmin available for you to use.

You can change the admin password that way.

But it sounds like your problem could be theme related (function.php), try removing your theme folder so WordPress goes back to the default theme, then try logging in.

Is this the bug fixed in 2.2.1??

I have not used the feature myself but once you network activate the plugin go to

Performance –> General Settings

then near the bottom under Miscellaneous look for “Use single network configuration file for all sites. ” and uncheck that..

Not all themes show the tag line. You can add it in, if you comfortable editing the themes php files.

I think this would do <div class="description"><?php bloginfo('description'); ?></div>

You have to Network Enable now I think.

However there is an option you can UNCHECK that reads

“Use single network configuration file for all sites.
Only one configuration file for whole network will be created and used. Recommended if all sites have the same configuration.”

Then you can configure each site I think..

Try playing with the settings for each part. It takes a while to find the best config your your exact setup..
