In the end I have kept the Redirection plug in deactivated all appears to be ok.

Thanks for your advice.

I have now deleted the redirection plug-in. I checked my permalink is at ‘default’ and then re-activated the redirection plug-in but I still get directed to:
https://jeffturnbull.com/blog/2010/12/a-test/

Anything else I need to be doing?

I can still access the individual Pages and Blog Posts ok, for example https://jeffturnbull.com/blog/?p=1074 it’s just the entry page that I’m having problems with
