    No, when you subscribe to a calendar…let’s say in Google calendar. The name of the calendar is autopopulated with it’s URL string instead of an actual title like “Las Vegas Calendar”.

    Can this be fixed so that when people subscribe there is an actual name of your calendar in their list of subscribed calendars instead of a long URL string?

    Yes,I know people can change the name of the calendar in their settings, but it would be nice of your calendar name actually showed when subscribing.
    Is there a way to set it so that the name goes into the name field?

    I’m not a coder so I’m really just spit balling since I spent to much time exploring every other option that wasn’t the fix.

    Earlier in the process my host mentioned a permission error along with that line 300 error. Last night I had huge permission errors that I’ve never had before in years of having this exact hosting account in that the plug in wouldn’t let me delete ANY files.

    My host had to restore my permissions, and then I was able to.

    I don’t know enough about writing plug ins to be able to say anything for sure. I’m just relaying what seems to be coincidences, which I don’t believe in when it comes to code.

    Like I said, everything is working fine and neither site is running slow as it was before when we had the plug in working for about an hour.

    The installation through the dashboard is still pretty janky. I couldn’t use that at all, it just hung up forever. But manually I was able to get it installed, activated and it’s running.

    If there’s any help I can give based on my experience just ask.

    Nicola I do appreciate your help along the way. It is much appreciated that you stayed with me on this.

    Right now I’m not having any issues, so things are OK.

    Was up till 10:30 p.m. last night with the techs from my hosting company and we finally got it working.

    On one site I was able to just delete the plug in, do a fresh install of the latest version AND extended views and they seem to be working now.

    On the other site I had to also do a deletion and then do a manual install and it too is working and my events are still there.

    Something about the plug in changes MY permissions on my own server. It wouldn’t even let me delete files, I had to ask my hosting techs to do it and they had to reset my permissions. Once that happened I was able to proceed with a manual install.

    After a few attempts I noticed that automatic update wasn’t going to happen. It stalled in the middle of the update every single time and left me with a broken folder that was missing files and the plug in deactivated. The only way I could get the new version installed was to completely delete the old version.

    My tech and I both looked around the web for others having the same problem and there are quite a few that have had the exact same problem as me and a couple point right back to the same file and line 300.

    This seems to be an ongoing issue going back to at least 2012. With so many people reporting that the plug in gives them the White Screen of death going back at least 2 years, I can’t imagine why the issue isn’t fixed yet. Instead of coming up with new features to add to the plug in, I really hope you guys concentrate on just making it work consistently.

    It looks like it could be a great product and I’d buy all the add ons no problem if I was confident that it wasn’t going to crash on me and I’d have to go through this over and over again.

    For now, I’m up and running and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that nothing crashes between now and New Years Eve.

    I’m hoping that this time when I thank you for all of your help, that I won’t need to come back with more bad news.

    Updated to 2.1.6 on the site where the plug in was working, it won’t complete the update and now it’s not working anymore. I can’t go forward, I can’t delete the files that are there and go backward, and I’m not even sure if the 30+ events that I put in it are still even there.

    I am now worse off than I was before since I’ve removed my old events solution.

    I’ve been doing WordPress sites for 8 years.

    I don’t understand why this and only this plug in is giving me permission issues, or why it’s preventing me from even deleting it.

    I can appreciate everything you are saying to me but at this point I have to believe that there HAS to be an ongoing issue with the plug in. This is not user error and it is not my hosting. I’ve had the same hosting account for 8 years and have NEVER had this issue with any other plug in.

    Updated to 2.1.6 and I’m back to square one. Won’t activate. White Screen of death. I’ve deleted the plug in.

    It is writable, but I upped it to a higher permission. No change.
    I should add that when I thought it was working, I installed Extended Views.

    Apparently I’m not out of the woods yet. We got it activated but there’s still all kinds of errors. At the moment the dashboard is inaccessible just as it was before the plug in was activated and so are any event posts. Back to the white screen.

    here’s the error:

    [19-Nov-2014 22:51:04 UTC] All-in-One Event Calendar: mkdir(): Permission denied @ /usr/www/virtual/eborg9/www.moderncircuit.com/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/vendor/twig/Environment.php:1243 #2

        {
     Line 300 -->       return $this->loadTemplate($name)->render($context);
        }

    I got it!

    My host just messaged me that that there was a permission issue. They changed it and now the plug in is installed and working.

    Halleluiah!

    Just relayed that to my hosting support. They are actively on it right now.
    Thanks

    OK, I will do that. I’m running WordPress 4.0. This site has been up since Feb. 2014. The only thing that I can think of that’s different than the other installation is that this one has an SSL on it, even though it’s not running at the moment.

    I don’t think it’s the plug in in general, because as I said it is working fine on another installation.

    It has to be something specific to this particular installation and it’s now at the point where its over my head.

    I do have a managed VPS and will relay what you’ve said to them in hopes that they can assist a little further.

    I’m frustrated, but I do appreciate your help and you hanging there with me to try and come up with a solution.

    I’ll let you know what feedback I get from my host.

    In my last attempt I deactivated all plug ins, completely removed my cache plug in and all related files and remnants. ran the database query. switched to a WordPress default theme, and then installed the plug in, and when I activated it I got the white screen of death.

    I’m giving up. Apparently it isn’t going to work no matter what I do. I don’t know why it takes minutes to install every time or why it won’t even work with no plug ins running on a default theme.

    As for now, I’m done and I’ll have to find another solution.
    Thanks for your help. If anything pops I’ll let you know.

    I was thinking to try that as well.
    The other site is new, this site is old and has been up for a while.
    Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but at this point I’ll give anything a try. I really want to use it.

    I’ll keep you posted.
    That’s for trying to help me, it’s much appreciated.

    Yes, I have a cache plug in installed. I’ve deactivated it.

    The other site where it does work, has the same cache plug in installed and activated, and the installation went just fine.

    I’m completely stumped.
